Nissan launched a new Datsun in India on Monday, three decades after shelving the brand that helped win Western acceptance of Japanese autos.

The company hopes that bringing back the brand that built its U.S. business will fuel growth in emerging markets with a new generation of car buyers.

We had a 2L Datsun Skyline growing up. Eventually after I finished school and got my first job, I convinced my dad to sell it so that I can borrow the money to buy my first car. (I was the only one driving around in it anyway)

Yeah, but to be fair, if it lands in SA, it comes fitted with an engine and gearbox as standard :D

Interestingly though, some German cars like some of VWs (ok, the GTI) are actually cheaper here than in Europe. (Plus we get leather seats as standard)
 
My dad's old Datsun 120Y was my student / 1st job car. It was lime coloured so my mates called it the Green Mamba / Lambourgreeny.

Most are the other way around, though. Go look at what a new Mercedes C180 costs here, and compare that with the price in England.

And then find out where those cars are made...
