Splinter Cell: Blacklist up for pre-purchase on Steam

The thing about being a spy is nobody tells you about all the prep work. You have to oil up your sneaking suit and make sure your goggles have fresh batteries before you can even set foot in the field. So, naturally, you can prepare for Splinter Cell: Blacklist by purchasing the game ahead of its launch at the end of August.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is available on Steam in both standard and deluxe editions. Pre-ordering either will net the Upper Echelon DLC pack, which includes an additional co-op mission, special suit that ups weapon defense and stealth in shadows, plus some gold sonar goggles. If you sign on for the deluxe edition, you'll immediately unlock a copy of Splinter Cell: Conviction on top of five custom suits, weapons and armor accessories.

Earlier this month, we were able to sample a few missions from the single-player campaign, providing us with a good look at Sam Fisher's new team and their distrust of his judgment.

Unfortunately with the current R/$ and the inflated price, pre-ordering via Steam is not an option. The game will basically cost R600 for the standard edition. Besides that, I refuse to buy a new release priced at more than $50. If publishers want to sell games at $60, they shouldn't complain about bad sales.

I do think this will be a pretty good game though and I'll probably get it as soon as the price drops... and perhaps after I've caught up with my Steam backlog..... well, thinking about my steam backlog, maybe I'll wait until the next summer sale :)

i normally wait a few months after a game is released, a good example is forza horizon some stores have it priced at R600 other at around R350, i picked it up on the crazy summer xbox sale for R188 and that was primarily because i have a uk acount, if i had a ZA xbox live account it would have been R140 ish

I wonder if valve is aware that with the exchange rate the new releases are R600 through steam, but a physical copy is usually R350 or R400 locally. That makes steam 33% more expensive than local retail.

They will price in Dollars - our weak exchange rate unfortunately is not their problem.

Why would Valve give a fuck about our exchange rate?

I've been looking forward to it so I'll pre-order :D

Pre-ordering is like a new fad. I think I'm tending to agree with TotalBiscuits' negativity towards the concept.

Give you incentive to pre-order a game, not knowing what it will be like, and then screw you if the game is not so good or does not appeal when it's released.

I don't pre-order nearly as much as I used to do. I've been looking forward to this since last years reveal. I'm not willing to wait more months just so I can get a 33% off.

Also Dat MP O_o 4 spy's vs 4 merc's? Fuck yeah :D

That does sound really fun.

I remember the multiplayer in one of the earlier splinter cells, me and my friend used to play over lan, one would be a spy and one a soldier and it was so fun...

Can you do this in Conviction? I see it is on special this weekend.

Nah as far as I know Conviction doesn't have the Spy vs Merc mode. The co-op is fun though.
