Starcraft 2

Reaper harass, hellion harass, banchee harass, drops, mines... they simply annoy you into submission

thats what terran has to do against zerg to keep them behind. protoss as well they need to keep the drone count down because zerg is always a base ahead. If terran goes 2 base you ither go 3 base into macro game witch on some maps is bad or go for a 2 base.

I look at it this way there are so many zerg players and thats the common match up and some people play against it so much they know how to stop zerg and to slow them down. Thats just how the game is.

man there is so much you can do in the game like weasley says Mutas are worse.

Muta's are an expensive and easily countered unit though now arent they?

zerg match up what i have seen is Zergling baneling into mutas. who ever has better macro and micro wins.

terran vs mutas 2 turrets boom mutas stoped if the zerg keeps making mutas then thats fail. Mutas are only usefull when you dont see them coming. thats what the game is about its knowing what is going on.

I dont get why people are always saying this unit is that, that race is this. I play the game because i like it.

Im just happy i can play again lol. If i struggle against a match up practice against it.

Have to agree. When I see a swarm of mutas, I usually cringe. Unless you have ground to air defense in place, it's usually a game breaker for me. I recall a lesson (or hiding from Foozball3000) where he mailed me with mutas and locusts. Literally picked me off.

That was fun :D
I need to show you a replay of how I used almost every unit I can build. Worked well, but hydras and locusts are crazy strong.

Countered, nope. Pushed back, yes. It depends on the game. If you're Protoss with a ground army and he gets 50 mutas, it's GG.
Even against Terran, a nice swarm floating about is quite handy to keep him busy. But one miss click, and you'll lose them all.

have you had a protoss player use HT against you when you have muta play ??

Not really. But I don't mass muta. Just enough to snipe things.
Protoss shouldn't react to Zerg, only adjust. Stalkers with Guardian Shield can take out mutas easily. (Luckily most Protoss forget the shield part, then mutas tear through stalkers).

Archons are better against mutas than HTs

Need to play some games tonight. Been playing Far Cry 2 and Civilization 4 for something different. So many games, so little time.

wtf I come back and this thread is like on second page. Time to produce some content.

The best counter to muta with protoss at the moment is phoenix(that is why most macro protoss builds all revolve around an early stargate). It is one of the most one-sided engagements I've seen.

I disagree completely with about muta only being good if you hit the terran by surprise. You need muta to snipe medivacs (specially since speed), gain map control and deal with drops. If you don't go muta vs a competent terran that can drop, you will be slaughtered, there are other options, but I do not ever reccomend not having something capable of taking down medivacs in zvt.

Also please feel free to ask me any zerg questions I want to help the community as much as possible

Hmmmm...
Most Protoss I find, I simply kill with basic units. Perhaps when I'm back in Diamond, I'll find good zvp games again.

But mutas vs terran is hard. Well, different. The goal is to keep them alive, more than doing damage. Dimaga showed how effective they can be (and annoying). ZvT hasn't changed too much, it's still a race to get to Hive tech, and Mutas are really good at slowing a Terran down. The option of Broodlords also help (even against Bio). 4 broodlords won me a game because the Terran way over reacted and I just killed him with a ton of roaches.

Anyhow, question time.. How can I switch to a 2 base all-in in ZvT from a 6 queen opening? What timing windows should I have in mind?

Yep Muta by nature are micro intensive, but when you see a crazy good dropping terran with like 170apm you will understand what I mean, it's hell without them.

Here's the most popular all-in at the moment (special thanks to RoRo), It's a roach/baneling bust hitting the T @ about 8-9 mins, basically instant death to the standard 3 CC openings.

9 - Overlord
15 - Hatch
16 - Pool - @ 100% Pool Make 2 Queens
17 - Gas
17 - Overlord
@100% Queens - 1 Queen *(Use this one to spread creep)
@100 Gas - Zergling Speed *(Take 2 Drones off Gas)
@6:00 - 3rd Base (You drone your 3rd whilst the timing attack hits)
@100% Zergling Speed - Put Drones in Gas + get 2nd Gas + Roach Warren + Baneling Nest + Overlords(about 5)
Rally Roaches and Zerglings as close as possible to your opponents Natural without being noticed, Morph Banelings and Attack

Also the best time to switch from Muta/Ling/Bane into Infestor/Ultra is when the Terran has had his 2-2 upgrades for a bit of time. 3-3 marines become quite crazy as I'm sure you know.

I moved house have not had a chance to test old con still need to get new con.

Want to try that build out looks cool

Yeah, I've played against VnR's Gummie... it's a dark and repressed memory :(
I didn't know that so many things can happen at once.

Thanks :) I'll try it a few rounds. Day9 also had a daily on early game ZvT last night, so I'm going to check that out a little later,

I just had an Idea.. I'm going to put 15 pool 16 hatch, 6 queen opening against the normal 15 hatch 16 pool...

I'm sure that 2 drone kills and all the other early harassment makes the advantage of hatch first fade. Where as pool first will give a better advantage.

To the testing board...
(If nothing else, the Terran will wonder what's up)
