Quite a few previews floating around the internet about it. Looks really interesting.

Yesterday, Sony Online Entertainment significantly altered my entire outlook on the next twelve months of gaming. When I sat down, along with a small gathering of journalists invited to see the reveal of Everquest Next, I wasn’t expecting to have my line of thinking about MMORPGs to fundamentally shift, but that’s precisely what happened. From being a game in a genre that I have only the occasional interest in, Next immediately became one of the most fascinating and exciting games on the horizon.

And that’s just the half of it.

At several moments during the presentation, I wrote in block capitals, circling and underlining. This is the headline feature. This is something nobody has tried or managed to do before. Then, toward the mid-point, while I was still processing what had already come, lead designer Dave Georgeson demonstrated a feature that changed everything.

Everquest Next’s world is made of voxels and everything in it is destructible.

The whole destroying your surroundings aspect interested my quite a lot. I can just imagine what an area would look like after a major battle, as well as the ability to scare away the enemy AI. Forcing them to look for other "safer" places to set up camp, just blew me away!

Definitely keeping an eye on this one, it is going to be a long starve with little nibbles of TESO and Wildstar in between for snacks.

I wonder how they're going to prevent the world from turning into a giant crater after a few days of players hacking away at it.

I assume that only certain areas are destructible or that the world somehow "regenerates"

From what i can remember they spoke about the world being able to "heal" itself again so yea, it might be that only some parts are destructible and those parts "heals" again after a time period.

Guild Wars 2 took massive leaps in the right direction, lets hope that SOE follows their lead and produces something wonderful.

Lets hope I don't have to have to roll around on the floor to get away from circles in the sand. I am so very gatvol of this new MMO mechanic of having to press a dodge button all the damned time.

After watching the reveal I fail to see the MMO side of EQN. It's looks like a glorified co-op game with physics destruction.

GW2 was fun but it's lack of end-game content as well as it's over saturated cash shop make it a chore to play.

If EQN went P2P then I think it would have been looking into, but for now I can't say I'm impressed. If Planetside 2 is anything to go buy it's going to be a P2W game through and through.

I am also apprehensive. I approach most of these overly-hyped MMOs with caution after being let down on numerous occasions (Guild Wars 2, par exemple). Having said this, I'll keep an open mind until I've had the opportunity to experience the game mechanics firsthand.

Damn. I really enjoy Landmark though, and hope they continue to introduce content and quality of life improvements!
