My company has gone batschit and said I can have a Laptop that costs between 20000 - 25000 rand.

What should I get?

What's important to me is, RAM, SSD, Screen Resolution - Portability would be nice too. What things should I look out for to make this future proof?

I love to hear your recommendations.

Look at getting a dell built up. You can customize on their site.

I ran a nice quad with 16gig ram, 256 solid state for just over 20k.
It also had a decent ATI card.

Used for high load development and never had a problem.

What ^^ said. Dell offers custom built machines for business needs.

Who is your company's supplier of PC goodies or can you go hunting and and just give your company the bill?

Get this; I really want one as well!

MSI's GS70 Gaming Laptop is Thinner and Lighter than the Razer Blade Pro - IGN
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/08...-thinner-and-lighter-than-the-razer-blade-pro

MSI has unveiled the GS70, which the company touts as the "world’s thinnest and lightest 17-inch gaming laptop." Measuring at just 0.85-inches thick and weighing 5.73 pounds, MSI's latest is thinner and weighs less than even the Razer Blade Pro, while still packing a 2.1 stereo speaker setup and the ability to output 4K resolution video.

The GS70's 17.3-inch display pumps out a resolution of 1920 x 1080, and is backed by a 2.4-3.4GHz Intel Core i7 Haswell processor, 16GB of DDR3L memory, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M GPU. The laptop also includes four USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, SD card support, a 720p HD webcam, and will ship with Windows 8.

The speaker system utilizes Sound Blaster Cinema and includes an integrated sub-woofer, and a dual fan setup dissipates heat at an upward angle to efficiently keep air flowing out of the light brush aluminum chasis.

The MSI GS70 will be available with a pair of 128GB SSDs plus a 1TB HDD, or as a single 128GB SSD plus 750GB HDD configuration. Pricing for the laptop starts at $1,799.99, with the larger storage option set to cost $1,999.99.

I suppose knowing what you actually do might help here too. Do you need a machine for Vector graphics, 3d Modelling etc

Why such a high budget, does your company know the cost of machines / do you need such an expensive one?

I suppose your choices are very limited if you can only choose hp or Dell. For that budget I would definitely get a custom machine as that will be the best you will get. Unless by Dell they mean Alienware :P (Just jokes)

If all else fails... I am sure you could be rather happy with a nice MacBook Pro or something of that liking

What an epic waste of cash... I'd rather save a bit more to buy a car..

That was not in any way a reply to the first question asked...
So please take your opinion about computers to another forum, if you cannot show your love and devotion to computer that you would rather buy something that would contribute to the destruction of out planet and will cost you a lot more over the long range to maintain.
If this is actually what you think (rather buy a money guzzling car, than a once off payment for a computer) then I respectfully ask you to rather not share this opinion on a "GAMING and COMPUTERS website"
Thank you
