Action/Adrenaline Junkie (plays high paced, high action games)? Tranquil Gamer (playing games that make you zen, yes they exist)? Strategist? Puzzle Solver?
Do you like first/third person shooters (Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, Battlefield, Crysis, etc), side scrollers/platformers (Sonic, Rayman), RPG (The Witcher, Dragon Age), hell even sports games (FIFA, PES, Madden, NBA)... blah blah
Also, what games have you played and enjoyed, and what games are you currently playing, if any?
Based on your answers, I'll give you some recommendations... Hopefully that will help you on your gamer journey.

PS: bear in mind, there really isn't a barometer for determining what kind of gamer one is, I'm just using this as a base to gauge where you fit in...

In terms of comics as a kid, my focus was mainly on Marvel and the only interests I showed towards DC was Batman, Superman, Green Lantern other than that I just watched whatever was on KTV back then
