R20 000 budget for laptop.

That's allot of money for a laptop.

Is it for gaming or just general work?

You can build a pretty high end PC for 20k,it's a shame it has to be a laptop.

I've generally found that you can get quite a lot of laptop for your money from HP. A couple of years ago we bought HP laptops for under R8k which had 17" screens, 2.4GHz CPU, 4Gb RAM and I can't remember the hard drive size. We couldn't get anything close to that specs for the same price in other brands. So now we only buy HP and the battery still works. Previous laptops from Acer didn't even last a year.

I would suggest a MSI or Proline rebranded laptop based on the Clevo design, they are under R20k and their design for their laptops have been proven overseas to be rock solid. Also they dont look as flashy as the Alienware laptops so thats a plus for business. Dells and HPs are just way too overprice in SA imo and they are spec'd badly for their price.

I think he said it has to be HP or Dell. If so, just get it custom.

I will never buy a HP laptop... you know why? (dont criticize)
They make PRINTERs and I dont trust them...

First of all...they make the best printers ever! Second their computers are very good! I had one and it still works. Only thing wrong with it is the battery life and performance :)

Would still get a custom Dell though.
