So far I have bought what I have thought to be good general products for my gaming pc, only through research online... Im not very experienced in computer hardware but im giving a pc build a try :)
What I have so far is..
MSI Z87-G43 motherboard
Intel HASWELL i5 4430 3.0ghz cpu
4Gb ddr3 1600 RAM
Gigabyte Aurora 3D case
Im sure i'll find a good 500gb HDD soon.

I need advise on a GPU and a PSU.
Also any comments or advise would be appreciated.
Thanks :)

I would suggest going for more than a simple 500gb, you'll be surprised at how fast it fills up. Also the difference in price between 500gb and a tera can be as close as R100.

"4Gb ddr3 1600 RAM", make sure you buy a good brand :D

Why buy Z87 is you bought a non-"K" series' intel chip? Just wondering...

Otherwise it looks good so far. Maybe a GTX 760 or is that out of your budget?

Not really a big fan of nvidia myself but guess that's personal preference for ya :)

I'd go for this seeing as it falls into your criteria.. Maybe have a look at upping the RAM to maybe double that for now and your definitely going to have to get at least a tera as Mb12 suggested.

Before you know it that thing is full and you'll have to spend more money.

I recomended a 760 as it is newer and has some cool features... but hey a 7870 GHz? :D

My previous card was a 6770 and and it did its job i guess. Liked it so much that i upgraded to a MSI 7950 Twin Frozr III OC, LOL. But in the end its up to OP to decide what he wants. I have nothing bad to say about the 760 but seeing as i'm more of a AMD fan boy i'd rather go for the 7850 :D

For the love of god. GET MORE RAM! PLEASE!?
8GB's at least, 4GB is Okay but you'll have to wait a while for games to load, and stuttering may occur too.

I made a mistake because i do have 8gb of ram. 2 dimms 4gb each :P sorry. and is the brand really important because im not sure i have the best RAM brand...

Thats actually a funny story, I ordered an "upgrade kit" comprising of my motherboard, ram, and cpu from computersonly.co.za and then they told me that they no longer have the 3.4ghz 4670k and instead gave me the 4430... was this a huge loss for me? they gave me an extra 4gb ram and paid for shipping?

Really no "best" RAM brand anymore they all made originally from Hynix or Samsung. I always just get Corsair Select Series or Kingston, since they are usually cheap.

I am really confused. He can get whatever RAM he wants. Just get RAM that looks good with your motherboard or is cheap...or both. :D

In my opinion you lost out a lot, but see what the others say
The major loss is not the so called 0.4ghz difference, its the fact that the 4670K has the "K" designation which means it has an unlocked multipler, aka it is overclock friendly. The 4430 cannot overclock much/at all if I understand it correctly.

Won't make much of a difference now, but in say a year or so, if you wanted to "upgrade" your system, and you had the 4670k, you could have bought a cooling kit (say corsair H80i) and overclocked the 4670k to say 4.4-4.5ghz, for an easy 10% performance gain.

The price difference is around R600-R700 between the two CPU's, so depending on what 4gb of ram and shipping costs, although I doubt its R700.

Perhaps get the input of a few more clued up folks here? - this is just my understanding of it

In my opinion the 4GB does not make up for it as he didn't only loose the value of the CPU but the Z87 motherboard as well. He could have spent more on the GPU instead. You have a valid point and that is why I choose the "K" series. :D

The price Difference between the cpu's is about R600 is what they gave you sufficient? I wouldn't have been happy with it no. Other than the obvious loss in base clock speed You cant overclock, but unless your an enthusiast I wouldn't be bugged by the time you might want to overclock because the cpu is to slow its time for a new pc in any case.

The point is they cheated him. Do I believe they ever had a 4670K...nope.

Would never spend R800+ on water cooling to get a whole 10% increase. Would be such a waste.
