Cpu: Intel i5 4430 3.0ghz
mobo: MSI z87-g43
Ram: 2x 4Gb DDr3 1600mhz
Gpu: HD4670 1gb DDR3
PSU: coolermaster thunder 600w
HDD: WD blue 1TB
optical drive: Samsung Dvd rw

I have put all my parts together and into the case. when i turn on my pc for the first time everything seems to run properly, all fans and all lights are on. i have my display plugged into my motherboard, and my mouse and keyboard plugged into 2 usb ports.

The computer carries on running for a while but the display says no signal?
why could this be? its not the monitor because its always been working fine? could it be that some of the hardware is not installed properly? should i remove my gpu even though i have nothing plugged into it?
Any advise would be appreciated. Keen to get my pc up and running :)

sounds like ram to me.

Make sure you have your ram in the correct slot . and try starting the pc up with just 1 ram stick

Have you plugged in all the power supply everywhere you need to on the mobo? There's normally the big plug that goes in near the memory, and a smaller one with 4 contacts that goes in near all the ports at the back of the PC, then of course all the ones for system fans and such.

Check for that small one.

EDIT: ok, so it's 8 contacts, here

Also, try taking out the GPU and see if the onboard graphics work, if that doesn't, it's not an issue with the GPU, more likely the motherboard or power. If it makes a lot of beeps, then something (probably RAM) isn't installed correctly, or is faulty

Was about to suggest what matt said.

Check if you've connected both the 24pin and 8pin to the motherboards. Also, make sure both RAM sticks are in either both blue or both black slots.

Because you forgot to connect your graphics card to monitor! :p
If you have a card in the PCI-X slot, it take preference over the on board graphics adapter.

this is so weird. i think it might be a power problem in the house in staying at... when i plug in my pc, even if its off, i can feel electricity on my case. and my case is aluminum. anyway i got it up and running now, i removed the gpu and re-plugged in all the mobo power cables and it worked... the fact that i feel that electricty on my case concerns me though?

haha didnt know that the gpu took priority.... :P

well take out your graphics card and connect your monitor directly to your motherboard to diagnose if it's a gpu fault or your monitor

Still havent got rid of this grounding issue... this constant electrical buzz through my case? could it be the power cord? or maybe the monitor? i have no idea. shouldnt the pc be grounded through the power supply and the ground pin? how else could i fix this issue? can this damage my newly built pc ... :/

I'm curious, do you notice this current while you're wearing shoes?

Doubt it's this since this normally results in a short circuit :p But did you put the spacers between the back of the motherboard and the case?

The original issue I would put down to that power plug by the CPU not being in or loose (not that it matters now :p)

I have never heard of a computer doing such strange things before...

Are you sure there are no exposed wires touching the case?

You sure it's an electrical buzz and not a coil whine?
Is it periodic "bzzzzt", a long "wheeeeeee" sound or the sound you hear when you stand close to a electrical transformer?

Also check what Slight said about the stand off for you mobo.

I have all the stand offs in securely. and no i dont notice this when i'm wearing shoes. its weird man, because when i wear should i cant become the grounding device. im actually scared to keep running my pc with this issue. also, theres no sound... its just the feeling. like when you touch it you feel a constant flow of electricity through your finger..

Also, if it counts for anything. my previous pc, in the same case, different mobo different psu. Did the same thing, im starting to think it might be the plug ... could this happen if theres too many things connected to one outlet?

I have the same issue in my PC room, Any electrical device plugged in here will give you little buzz when you're not wearing shoes and touch its metal bits in this room. I suspect the plug may not be earthed properly, but I'm no electrician. I can however tell you, in the 20 years I've lived year, nothing bad has ever come of it.

Don't know if your being funny or not but that actually made me lol :D
haha how could i not be scared man... my rig !
