Hi Guys thanks for the advice on the 7780 - on to the next one..

Im helping a friend build a pc - he has R6000 he can spend on the following components :

Case, Processor, Ram, Motherboard, Psu

He currently has a gts250 that he will use for a while longer till he does the final upgrade, also i could just as well borrow him my HD4870.

Any suggestions or specials you guys know off?

Thanks in advance!

How about this...

AMD Piledriver FX-8350 @ R2652

MSI AM3+ 970A-G46 @ R943

Kingston Hyper-X Plug and Play (2x4GB) @ 571

Corsair VS550 @ R550

Total = R4763

That is a perfect build for its price...
You have got some room for upgrades here so either spend more on RAM, Motherboard or Power Supply...
With the extra cash you could pick out a really nice case...

Have fun :D

first: welcome to the forums!

second: will this pc be stationary or will it be a lan pc?

third: is this going to be used mainly for games or rendering or work?

Hi Reaper thanks for your input this one looks to be a good price but will it support a 7870?? Not getting the information i need regarding this psu, not sure if it will be good enough for the rig :

okay you linked to a cx600 which is a different range of PSU's...
I have the gs600 (gs: gaming series) and my hd 7970 runs fine off of it.
However if you want to put another gfx card in you will need a bigger psu.

And that is some serious coincidence about the cases :D

Will only run with one high end graphics card at a later stage, so you reckon the one i listed should be fine?

Also for some reason i cannot find a decent motherboard that supports the fx8

Will probably go with this Mb - http://galoot.co.za/shop/components/motherboards/amd/asus-m5a97.html

The 8320 instead of the 8350 to save a bit, 4gb corsair vengeance for R616 might get 8gb, corsair cx600

That PSU will definitely do what is needed, plus its pretty quiet.
Seems like a decent mb there...

Sorry i put the wrong cpu, but that doesn't matter...
I have this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103961

You probably won't get Reaper's part list for your budget as those are Newegg prices *sigh*.
Have you looked at my list?

P.S those are RebelTech prices.

I am pretty sure that you can get them for similar prices in SA

...Nope generally parts are cheaper by at least 15% in America (I'm talking CPU, GPU, MTB etc) (Correct me if I am wrong)
It may not make a huge difference if you have a big budget, but on a small one its difficult :)
