Imax coming back to SA

I didn't even know they closed down in the first place.

I watched The Dark Night in an IMAX theater and I was not impressed at all. It was very disorienting and I never knew where to look with all the action scenes. Not something I would ever do again.

Did not know they closed down. saw one the last time i was at Menlyn. it must have been very long ago.

I last watched transformers in the menly imax theater, the 1st time we were in the front row, big mistake, the next time we were close to the back, best place to be, was epic

i rather enjoy the IMAX experience, be it feature films or documentaries. i was very disappointed when the Gateway one closed down, after having seen The Dark Knight, one of the Matrix movies and a few documentaries in it.

i have always said i would pay R100 or more for a movie with perfect picture, clear and correctly amplified sound and a comfortable seat. the rubbish cinemas that turn the volume to 11 and think louder is better, with gum on the screen and sticky floor and hard seats and still charge you R60 a movie are mistaken when thinking they will have enjoy my custom. besides my home, IMAX is the only cinema that consistently delivered on picture, sound and comfortability. i welcome them back!

I always loved going to the Imax. Last movie I saw there was Avatar. That was awesome!! So glad they are bringin it back to our shores again.

Hopefully they run it properly, like regular cinemas, this time. Previously most of the shows were these national geographic shows at very inconvenient times (i.e no shows past 2pm on a sunday). They only started showing real movies in there when imax was already going down, and even then it was like 1 movie per week, filled with the nature stuff.

If they can show more proper movies at more normal and regular times it might work this time around.

I haven't been to Imax and hardly go to the cinema because of --> Home theater :D. Are there any movies that has to be watched at Imax? I'd be interested in checking Avatar out.
