They have probably padded the price to hedge against expected currency fluctuations.

I do believe the hdd is upgradable. And if it's like the PS3, you should be able to just stick in a normal drive quite easily, not have to buy one at an inflated price because it's in a propitiatory casing /* cough xbox */

Yeah Sony already confirmed that it will be the same as upgrading your PS3 hard drive. Nice and simple .
