Eve Online

I played the 2 week trial a while back with my friend and it was a truly amazing experience. If I ever decided to play a pay per month online game, Eve Online would be it :).

Man, there must be something terribly wrong with me.

Was I the only one that found this game to be an utter bore? More specifically the PvE based content. The PvP was fun enough, but getting things like standings up and mining put me into a coma. Also the pace of movement (felt like I was inching along most of the time even with afterburners / MWD's), and the general generic feel of environments put me off.

I will say I liked the sheer variety and skill complexity. Spent a lot of time just planning things which I love in RPG's.

Oh well. Power to all of you that enjoy it, I will not judge ^_^

Eve has always been a love it or hate it game.

OC which Drones do u use?

In my cruiser I was using 5x Hammerhead I's (Medium size) since it only had 50m³... now the Myrm has 150m³, so I'm going to look at getting some heavy drones as well... Max number of drones I can use currently is 5 with a 60km range

AFAIK:

Light are fast with low dmg - good against frigates
Medium are a bit slower with higher dmg - good against destroyers/cruisers
Heavy are slow with high dmg - good against Battleships

I think you'll like the manual-control-based MMO called Black Prophecy that is near release :)

Whats Jumpgate like? I've read its the WoW-version of EvE (a lot easier)

Ive also had a look at Jumpgate Evo. I think that i could take off but if i remember correctly Gametm or Edge said the game needed work.

I dont think it will steal any eve fans as the guyz who like Eve like the fact that its difficult. I love the huge universe and that im just a grain of sand on a beach.
Last night when i took my Destroyer out and annialiated an enemy (NPC) Cruiser every second i spent training was worth it. The feeling of accomplishment is also huge.

Sorry for the slight hijack, but here's are some images of Black Prophecy. Looking mighty good!

That in-ship view looks awesome!

JumpGate has been delayed till sometime this or next year. The open beta hasn't been started yet even though u can apply. Sounds like a bust to me.

Yeah I read about Black Prophecy a while back and the whole 'twitch gaming' would make it more enjoyable for me personally than EVE's syrupy movement feel.

I hope it still remains somewhat tactical, since I enjoy a meeting of both that and twitch based gameplay.

I also think it would be cool if they Combined the Twtch with tactics. If i was the dev's id be following eve's template though. Try and keep it on one servers. Try to keep eve's depth but include the twitch gameplay elements.

Eve would probably be a good game for people that suffer from parkinsons. They don't have to worry about keeping a steady aim on their target just as long as they can click their menu selections.
