PC diagnosis **HELP**

So I tried posting this in the PC woes thread but none of you guys seem to respond so I guess I'll just make a little thread. :)

So basically - I need to diagnose what's wrong with my pc.
It can either be the mobo and/or cpu that's kaput.
See, the thing is - I'll start up my pc but the mobo will make NO beeping sound/bios screen whatsoever. Even when I remove the RAM modules. Everything else runs just fine (i.e the HDD spins, HSF spins etc).
So I need a diagnosis from you guys. Is it my mobo or my cpu??
Thanks!

My sister's pc used to do that. I removed the battery for 10 min and put it back in,started working.

Could also be the PSU...even though the fans are spinning. Best to get friends/ spare pc and test mobo, cpu and PSU separately.

Removed the CMOS battery already. Still nothing. No bios screen/beep.

Bought a brand new PSU. Still nothing. I have to know whether it's the cpu or mobo. Cut costs.. I think it might be the mobo too, but isn't the cpu responsible for loading the bios?

Get a new mobo speaker?

+1. Maybe one of the internals of the PSU failed. Is it modular...have you tried other rails/ports of the PSU for the motherboard power?

To me it just seems like the mobo is kaput. 775 mobo's are outdated anyway. What socket mobo should I get next? 1155? or AMD

I'm an AMD fanoi... But it's one of those things you need to decide for yourself.

But... Under the faint chance that my opinion could influence your decision: AMD!

I was at the same crossroads a couple of years ago. Someone told me AMD cpu's made good toasters. Internet hardware reviews weren't that hot at the time as well. Well I believed it and went for Intel. I guess AMD gpus still have crappy driver issues? Compared to nvidia? Never cared to check. Can't afford shiny things. lol

Never had driver issues with my AMD GPU. I'd go Intel for CPU and AMD for GPU. Best bang for buck that way imho.
