Better control for playing MK 9

Not sure if there are any serious Mortal Kombat players here, but I just play it casually and I'm still frustrated as hell by my xbox control. The forward button makes my characters jump forward and the back analog stick makes them jump back... it's pi$$ing me off:cry:

It's so frustrating that I'm willing to buy a new control specifically for MK... or fighting games in general.

Has anyone played with a decent control available locally?

THANKS!

I'd say, it sounds to me as if your control scheme isn't properly set up, try out different control schemes. Personally I play with my PS3 controller, as I prefer it's dpad over that of the 360 controller, especially for fighting games. You can try the keyboard too, but it takes some time to get used to. I wanted to buy myself a proper fighting stick, but my mood and taste in games changes every 2 weeks, so forking out R2000+ for a decent fight stick is a bit overkill in my book.

If you're really serious about fighting games, then get yourself a decent stick. Remember, as with any fighting game, practice makes perfect. :D

The configuration's definitely right, the control is really spastic though... I usually play subzero and if I'm fighting on the left I play much better because I'm more easily able to make ice clones. If I'm on the right then all my attempts to make ice clones, a lot of the time, end up being low hits. It's irritating because this leads to me getting 30%+ damage combo-ed.

R2000+ is WAY out of my budget... my GPU didn't even cost that much :o

Can you get a PS3 control to work on PC?

There is a way to get a PS3 controller to work on PC. See this link: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/45610/how-to-use-your-ps-3-controllers-as-a-joystick-for-your-windows-pc/, but as Ike said, I don't think it works very well.

The solution is to rather get it on PS3. In my opinion (and note that I am PC enthusiast), the best place for fight-'em-ups is on console, and because of the clumsy D-pad on Xbox, the only console to use for them is PS3.

"and don't blame your damn controller" :p

I knew I was going to get this blow to my pride :(. If I'm lying to myself, I'll deserve wasting my money on a new control, if not

That's disheartening... what about something like this?
