Most expensive video games ever made

$100 - 200 million for the production of a game! Geez!

Is SW:TOR is most expensive made to date?

the first game that had a budget way ahead of its time was Shenmue on the dreamcast, back in 1999 Yu Suzuki was quoted as saying the budget was in the Region of 70 Million Dollars

I can see why so much money was spent on these games, though. All of them were fantastic and well made games (speaking for everything except the Old Republic, I haven't played that one. But I have seen it, and it looked great).

Nope, GTA V took that prize away.... clocking $265 million.

That said, I would love to know from start till now, how much did WOW + expansions clock, cause surely that must be way more than all the games mentioned here, and technically its still a single game.

I wonder what sales were in comparison to creation costs...that would put things into perspective.

GTA 5 we can already answer. Well, sorta:

With more than three million copies of GTA 5 having already been pre-ordered, it is expected that the eagerly awaited title will recoup its considerable outlay in double quick fashion. It has been suggested that GTA 5 will sell more than 25 million copies during its opening 12 months, generating sales upwards of £1 billion
