GTA 5 rakes in R7.7 billion in one day

Was shown a posted tweet last night with this claim. I did not know it was legit. I was unsurprised - but surprised as well.

Making back what it took to make - and then some.

Imagine the amount had it come out on PC as well.

They had their development budget payed off before they even launched the game. Now they can focus on making a good PC version, you after that extended beta that it's going to have on the xbox 360.
 
It's a huge payback and an excellent investment. The future is pure bliss. PC will be the cherries (plural) on top of their ice cream.

Even my wife who isn't a gamers elbow has heard of this and remarked about the good things heard about it.

Woah!! I genuinely understand, I don't even mind being a statistic with that amount and the sheer quality of the game. I'm sure it's gtill going to make a whole lot more though as more and more people see how boss it is.

... and to think i was a naysayer once upon a time...
 
This is going to make it hard for them to claim that piracy is killing the gaming industry, and also to justify the high price for the game. How many other projects make a profit on day 1 or 2 or 3? And this isn't just a profit, this is a 300% profit. So had the price of the games been R100 or R200 less they would still have made a killing.
