Windows 8.1 gets a release date and pricing details

Any ideas what will happen if you're already on Windows 8.1 Consumer Preview when this comes out? Would I need to go back to Windows 8.0 and then let it update back to 8.1? >.<

You will need to install either 8.1 fresh or 8 then upgrade to 8.1

No path to install 8.1 preview -> retail

Tried "upgrading" from preview to full this weekend (Using Full version from MSDN)

Lets put it this way it sees preview as a version it can not upgrade from so does a fresh install moving your old files to Windows.old

You think they'll make the full 8.1 install available to 8 users? Since my Windows 8 is an upgrade version so I'd have to go even further back to then upgrade to 8.0 so that I could upgrade to 8.1...This is going to be painful :/
 
i hope they do im moving back to windows 7 then when i see 8.1 is doing alot better will go to 8.1. Just irritates me that i cant install the Mobo drivers and need to use os drivers. Thats maybe why its got issues some times.

But yea im going to be using 8 on laptop very cool OS.

Well if you have a Windows 8 Key you can always do a Fresh install with an 8.1 DVD. Unless you use volume licences.

I have a key for a Windows 8 Upgrade (Took advantage of the super cheap price at the beginning of the year). Last time I tried, it didn't let me use it on the full install and I could only use it with the Upgrade ISO.
