Depends what you mean by "first". 1930's first, 1980's first, those "first" reprints they had in SA some time ago, or the most recent reboot?
it was the 1980'r reprint

I forgot, I also have those prints they did in sa in the late 90's, but I didn't figure there would be value in those, I got those in assorted genres, not just superman
I'd forgotten that was being launched, I shall have a looksy![]()
Anyone on here watch The Flashpoint Paradox yet? Based on Flashpoint Comics, looks quite decent.
I have a set of the first 12 Superman comics, somewhere in the garage, I want to dif them out to find out if they worth anything

Yeah, don't think the battle axe reprints would be worth anything, but hey, you never know.
Superman Unchained, which is quite good. Also, it's my first Superman comic (not including graphic novels).Anyone reading anything new?

Didn't follow it at allI made my choice, and I stuck to it! DC is trying to milk it. IMHO.

Scott Snyder is by far the best writer in comics today. His work on Severed was absolutely amazing. His Detective comics run from #871 till end is my best run in comic history. I absolutely love his writing!

How does this differ from the other Supes stories out , I follow the usual Action Comics etc but I gave unchained a missSuperman Unchained is really good. Probably the best Superman comic that has been published in the last few years (and it is only 3-4 issues in). .

What is it comparable to ? I have to say you have never steered me wrong in the past .
This is the Superman story that the New52 should have started out with. It is really action-packed and moves at a very quick pace. I followed Action Comics until Morrison left...I am a fan of both, but it was jumping around to much and didn't really have THAT great of a story, even if the writer is a literary genius. The current Superman title also doesn't really have anything that appeals to me.
But this is in another league. Snyder on writing, Jim Lee on art...and enemies that pack a serious punch. This is a grittier Superman and there are no fillers or slumps in the story. I have so far read the first three issues and all of them were really good. Not Superman For All Seasons or All-Star Superman good, but good nonetheless.
It can probably be compared to a cross between the Superman of Secret Identity and Batman of the current Batman run. Still good 'ol Supes, but one who doesn't take kak.
Get it in trades, I reckon that would be a good buy for you.
Used to collect comics 1995-1998 during the enhanced cover collectors times, not too sure what the scene is like now.
I really enjoyed and collected from issue #1, PITT, Spawn, Preacher, The Darkness and The Ascension. I Really recommend picking these up.
Also think that that nothing will ever compare to X-Men and Spiderman 1993-1997, looked into a couple of the current story lines and it seems that those two titles(And all their spin-off titles) are a complete mess.

BTW, does anyone know of any store in SA that sells the Breaking Bad TV show merchandise, like shirts, plush or figurines?
I'm going to shamelessly plug my site as well: http://digitalsushi.co.za, but we'll be adding merchandise at a late stage.Online stores I know of:
www.crittersandcomics.co.za
www.smallvillecomics.co.za
www.cosmiccomics.co.za (Worst site in SA retail history)
www.readersden.co.za
www.awx.co.za
www.figurefanatix.co.za
mail any one of those. They should be able to help you.

X-men had their run in the 90's I must admit. I was still a Marvel reader back thenGrew up on the X-men! And I will agree, it has gone a bit haywire. But that is just me, and my personal issues with Marvel. However, Spider-man, in my opinion, has gotten on top from from about 2008-2009 until #700. Loved that run. Superior Spider-man I think has gone off the rails, but it will return soon.
Personally, I feel DC has done an exceptional job with their reboot. While there have been some fail titles (Superman ongoing) there have been some runs that will be in the comic book history books. (Snyder)
I think Marvel, and DC should lay low with the mini-series run offs. It really is upsetting the community. It seems as every second month, you need to go and collect another 8 issues of any given title to follow the storyline. (Read trinity war) This is just causing us to go to torrent sites to get the issues.
