Future proof hardware? Or rather wait til next to build a new pc?

I find that waiting for cheaper/better tech is kind of a waste of time. By the time the new generation of tech is reasonably priced... then a newer generation makes its way out... but then you have to wait for that generation to become reasonably priced and on it goes...

HOWEVER! that doesn't happen with your PSU, monitor and case so maybe you should get those first. Just a suggestion.

What I'd get:

CPU: i5 3330 - R2157
Mobo: MSI B75A-G43 - R952
Ram: 2x4Gig Hyper-X Blu - R1001
GPU: MSI 7870 - R2812

PSU: Silent Master Pro M2 520W - R988

Case: Cooler Master CM690 III windowed - R1111
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250Gig - R2375
CPU cooler: Corsair H55 - R696

Total: R12,092

Woah... that's quite steep for a mid-range PC. It's a really handsome package though, like a BMW 530D or a Golf GTI... an extremely good all-rounder in a understated (not gaudy) package.

Personally I'd cut the amount of ram, buy the CPU second hand (you'd probably get it for closer to a R1000), buy the gpu second hand (get a better GPU for cheaper) and buy the SSD from a reseller (256gigs for R1700). Do all of this on Carbonite.

That'll minus about R2600 making the new total R9500... still quite steep

Take the CPU cooler away (that was just for looks, not for actual performance) and get a cheaper PSU

That'll minus R900 leaving you with a total of about R8600, which I think is pretty fair!

This looks promising :)

It apparently beats the Titan on most benchmarks, fully utilizes the 8-core CPUs and was designed along side the team that brought Frostbite 3 for BF4. Oh and like 1/3rd the price of the Titan.

Very promising, but I think you're referring to the 290X, which beats the titan on most benchmarks :) Think the RRP of that card will be a bit higher... Still, get 2 x 280X!

Its really a tweaked Radeon HD7970, that card. What you're thinking of is Mantle, not the Radeon R9 290X. NDA for new information and possibly a few reviews on that lifts on the 15th, apparently.

With my house being sold and some spare cash coming loose over December I'm looking at building a new gaming PC. Considering going the all-AMD route due to the new console generation and Mantle...
