XBOX Controller buttons issue!

Party time! Excellent!
So I got a XBox 360 controller to play Dark Souls (apparently that's the only way to play it), but the buttons are all messed up!

A is X and B is Y, and the triggers aren't doing what they are supposed to either. Even the Start button doesn't do what it's supposed to.

I downloaded the latest driver from Microsoft's site, the controller connects with no hassle, but the button mapping is FUBAR :(

anybody else have this problem before? so far not even Google has been of any help :confused:

Don't re install any drivers for the controller, wipe them clear and just plug your controller in and leave it.

I had a similar issue, the default drivers worked better than anything you download of microsoft or the CD.

So the boobs on my Xbox controller stopped working...

So I was having issues running Dark Souls on pc. A fix is to disconnect your Xbox receiver, open the game, and plug it back in.

The controller and receiver were working fine before then, but after disconnecting it and plugging it back in, it has stopped working.

The light on the receiver isn't on. The pc doesn't detect the hardware. I have removed and reinstalled drivers many times. Tried other pcs and other USB ports. Nothing seems to fix it. The controller still works but it's useless right now as it can't connect to anything.

Any ideas?

got that once as well. the receiver light was off, then I press it's search button, the light begins to blink, and soon as i press the signal button on the controller the receiver light just goes off again and the controller won't connect.

I just unplugged the receiver for a minute and plugged it back in and all was good again

Lucky you. I've tried everything except taking the receiver apart.

Anyway...

Anyone got any other ideas? I miss Dark Souls, F1 2012 and Dirt: Showdown.

Do I need to buy a new receiver?
 
Two ideas to try.

1) When you hit the search button on the receiver, make sure to press the sync button on the controller itself (next to LB, iirc) as well
2) There is a known problem with the fuse in the receiver going bad, and can be fixed by bridging the gap where the fuse is. You'd have to google this for more info, as I can't recall recall the specifics.
