R8k Gaming Rig

Hey Guys,

If you had R8K to build a new gaming rig. What components would you put in the rig? I know R8K is pushing it thin, but hey, worth a shot right?

Let me know :)

Should get an ok rig for that.

I would suggest try aim for a 2500k at least, 8gb RAM and maybe a 560Ti (or somewhere around those specs). That should be ok to reasonable machine. It's not going to be kick ass but it'll get you by...

Where would you recommend buying the parts from? I'm in Pretoria, so want the place to be in Gauteng atleast :) Thanks for your advice :)

I have a mate up that area and takes a lot of care with his components and customers. I'll PM you.

Company called Nettronics.

Core i5 4570 3.6GHz - R2200
Intel DH87RL Motherboard - R1300
Antec EA-500 500W Power Supply - R700
KINGSTON HyperX BLU DDRIII 4GB RAM - R550
PowerColour Radeon HD7970 - R4000

GrandTotal R8750 [Slightly above the target I know but that would be the best bang for your buck].

If you had to stick to budget then swap out the Radeon and get a MSI GTX 660 OC for R3000; which would bring the new total up to R7750.

Jeez, what I wouldn't give to have that kind of budget for a PC again...

Months and months of saving, got to a point where i was collecting coins on the streets :)

I am pretty sure he asked for a full pc in the OP.

So I would guess that includes a HDD and a Case as well?

Edit:

Assuming that is the case then I would recommend the following:

Intel core i5 4670
ASRock B85M
G.Skill Sniper DDRIII 1600 2x4GB (8GB Total)
Seagate Barracuda 500GB Sata 6G Hard Drive
XFX pro 650W psu
PNY GTX760 XLR8
Coolermaster CMP 102 Chassis

R9300 Delivered to your door.

You could drop the ram down to 4GB but I wouldn't recommend it, 8GB is becoming the standard for gaming now.

On a side note, there is nothing wrong with powercolor but if you are buying a 7970 from them you have to make sure it is the PCS+ version as the normal OC version doesn't have any form of vrm cooling and its actually a very poor and loud design.

R8k is a tight budget to build into these days. I was going to post my own build but Joker got to a similar one before I did. I'm sure he can offer you a good deal on that rig if you wangle with him on price :)

I just love the devotion that Mr Joker has, i would take his advice on forum anyday bud.
