Why are PC gamers getting the short stick to good titles these days

It's because of piracy, developers don't see the point of making games for Pc if a good portion of what they could of gotten is lost to piracy.

Under that logic they should avoid consoles even more. I know a couple of people that have chipped systems.

Devs are rarely the folks behind the decision. More often than not, it's a lack of resources and exclusivity deals, IMO.

Coding for 1 system is easy. You know what you have and what your limits are.

Coding for a plethora of various OS's, hardware configurations and external factors is a bit more tricky.

While PC can be very rewarding as we have seen before like Mine Craft (yes I know it's a bad example) but it also became popular on Xbox360.

yep... only a couple, everyone I know who plays PC games have copied games with the exception of their steam games

"whistling: This excludes myself of course... woohoo... legal... all the way... I pay for my music too -_-''''

Well both the previous batman's were worth it. and it's just easier typing it short then long but i guess your a proctologist that's why your complaining. i would have loved to have the new batman because then would have had all 3 collectors edition's seeing as i collect statue's such as spawn and batman and so on. and i don't see you working for the money i make so i can spend it on whatever i want.

Geez ppl are so over sensetive

Oh, I completely agree with you on the tricky bits, 100%, but it stays primarily a publisher decision, rather than a dev decision. The difficulty of porting from your primary platform will form part of the decision making process (in the form of added man-hours and publishing fees to your project in exchange for some sales), but wouldn't govern it.

All of this is, of course, knowledge based on my vast experience of coding and publishing AAA games </s>, so apply pinches of salt to taste.. ;)

Corrected for you:

Well, both the previous Batman games were worth it.

It's just easier typing it shortly than long, but I guess you're a proctologist, which is why you're complaining.

I would have loved to have the new Batman because then I would have had all three of the collectors' editions, seeing as I collect statuettes, such as of Spawn, Batman and so on.

I don't see you working for the money I earn, so I can spend it on whatever I want.

Jeez, people are so overly sensitive.

But that's much better, thank you :p

(Also, I'm just teasing you now).

I love collectors' editions too--I figure it's nice to have a little something extra to put on display.

I think right now, my favourite ones have to be the Geralt bust:

And the Alduin statuette:

Hmm... although, quite fond of my Darth Malgus statuette as well:

Have a bunch of little ones too, but those three would probably be my "main" (and favourite) ones.

Firstly let me add, I also struggled with identifying with "col ed" meant, but I'm gonna be honest and say, it did not bother me as much as I feel it bother some of the other guys. I feel that 1; it's a good point to bring out that this is a forum, and IF you would like someone's opinion then its best you type in a more legible manner as to not cause any confusion. 2; I think that if you have not used the terms "gl hf gg brb afk noob stfu" or any of the countless others then maybe online gaming is something that is going to give you a headache every time you play. I personally will not type out Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm, to me, sc2 hots is more than sufficient given that I would like the opinoin of people who know what it is rather than people that are trying to correct my grammar.

Furthermore, at work to your employer and employees "col ed" is "bs", but if its recreational site where everyone that is on this forum should know some in game slang then it should be ok, its a new language we are developing guys, lol (laugh out loud (for some of you that might have a problem with the abbreviation)), lets keep it going and not try to correct everyone. At its worse, it will force you to do some problem solving, and at best it will make you better at it.

As for consoles "col ed" and pc's "col ed", I don't think its a waste of money if its your money and thats the sort of thing you are in to, when I bought sc2 wol, I did not buy the collectors ed, and now I will never get the Thor skin or special portraits especially now that I bought the sc2 hots collectors ed, and will buy the new one as well.

I agree that it is possible just too expensive to go ahead and make every game for all platforms, especially considering that there are new ones coming out and I am sure they also know where their highest level of retail comes from. If you don't like it, but games that are mostly PC games...

I honestly don't understand when people complain that PC gaming is getting the short end of the stick when we get more games and better games then you get on consoles. If you're angry because a short list of console ports suck, then you're really not playing enough proper PC games.

Edit: posting the link instead because the pic is massive.

Excuse the PC elitism along the side, it's a /v/ pic, but it does illustrate how many games the PC gets compared to the other platforms. Sure, the PS4 and Xbone are not out yet, but at any given time the PC has around 8 to 10 times more upcoming games than the other platforms.

PC gaming is better than ever.

Love it :D

The pic, that is.

I'm an avif pc gamer and also have an xbox 360 second gen, i love collectors Ed games and my most recent one was Injustice gods among us, now we lost out on an awesome Col ed for GTA 5 cos pc gamers got left in the dark muddy swaps of gaming again, now it's batman arkham origins i go arkham cit col ed and it was a good buy, wanted the col ed on pc, guess what no col ed on pc and the xbox versions were sold out even before they were advertised. PC gamers lose out on so many good things and i think we spend the most money when it comes to games and so on, come on guys don't make us look like some random kid begging for more at a soup kitchen

Wtf-did-i-just-read.jpg

My head is sore now.

I believe so as well, Bungie (343 Studios) decided to keep Halo a Xbox exclusive even though they were capable enough to do a successful PC port. Keep Halo on xbox - people will buy it simply to play it.

Interesting to note, Watch_Dogs PS4/XB1 is getting ported from PC to console and a dev team is simply tweaking it to work well on the systems. While some may see this as "ooh console is weak it need's PC to help it". It's a two way street, there may come a time when a game is developed for a console and it can be successfully ported to PC without any hiccups. (I keep recalling how horrid GTA IV was when it launched due to it being terribly optimised).

PS4 and XB1 are too a new platform, you can't really compare it to PC at this point in time. You could do it with the PS3 and Xbox360.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that piracy on Pc far outweighs piracy on consoles, due to be being so easy to get a game off of a torrent site, nzb or even file sharing sites.

Correct! Chipped consoles do not have access to online services either, so if you XB360/PS3 is soft/hard modded you not getting onto PSN or XBL. With a PC you can download install and play a pirated game and still use online services.

100% Agreed! I have and xbox and ps3 and only have original games to play for it (mostly cuz I did not trust just anyone to chip it) and then I have my pc where I have around 110g of games that I just received from a friend, and funny enough, still the only game I play is sc2 and its legal :D.

Yes, hence why I said

Sure, the PS4 and Xbone are not out yet, but at any given time the PC has around 8 to 10 times more upcoming games than the other platforms.

Regardless of that, this list is simply upcoming platform exclusives. At any given time the consoles usually have 5 to 10 upcoming exclusives, whereas the PC likely has close to a hundred. :p

The point just being that people who say the PC gets the short end of the stick are usually just looking at one tenth of what is one offer for PC.

Maybe he is talking about games he is in to... Not sure, but I still believe that consoles get the short end of the stick, and I for one would like to keep it that way :)

Just saw a comment about GTA V that made me think there is probibly more truth into that then what most people think

"What if they release to consoles 1st as it promotes people to buy games twice"

Think about it, esp for games like Skyrim and so on that support mods on PC. If PC releases came out 1st less people would own 2 copies of the games. So they 1st release on console and people buy it to be part of the in crowd... then later comes a PC port with added content and mod support so you end up getting it again to make use of said mods.
