Xbox One struggling to keep up with PS4?

It's frustrating since I really want to continue using the XBox range of consoles but everything and I mean everything sounds better with the PS4. At this rate I will have to let go of my precious XBox Live name and make the switch.

I couldn't really be bothered. I have a 32" Sony Bravia and quite frankly 720p is sufficient. As long as it looks nice and performs as well, I'll be happy.

Sounds like you pulled that excuse from the Microsofts Xbone book of excuses..........:D

People just love to hate the Xbone. Whenever there is a single little shred of something they immediately start ranting on how bad the Xbone is. Really? Seriously?

The rumour started because a demo was shown of the new COD running on 1080p on the PS4, so naturally that means that the Xbone can't handle it at 1080p right? Even though previous videos were shown of the game running at 1080p on the Xbone. Why internet? Why do you hate this poor console so much?

Oh and most of the launch titles for Xbone are confirmed, by MS and the developers of the games, to be running at 1080p...so that doesn't count for anything right?

But then again this is based on rumours...

90% of all game play videos on most gaming websites are either upscaled from the source, or use a really crappy codecs. Youtube is a primary example it may use mp4 for 720/1080p but it's locked to 30fps. Other gaming websites run their gameplay videos at 60fps despite the game being played at 30.

Update, 4:38PM ET: We've spoken with a representative from Microsoft, who provided the following statement: “Xbox One fully supports native 1080p output at 60 fps. It is up to individual developers to determine what resolution best fits their design goals. At launch, Xbox One will present all titles at 1080p—whether natively or upscaled.” It’s worth keeping in mind that just because a box can output at 1080p doesn’t mean it will. For instance, we already know that Ryse – a high-profile launch title — will be running at 900p. The further we get into a console’s life, though, the more experience developers will have with that console, and can figure out methods to get the most out of it. The representative said they could not comment on the rumor regarding the stress test boxes outputting at
900p.

TL;DR

Play games, not graphics.

Well being as it's just a rumour i don't believe the game will only be up to 720p -_- it doesn't seem right as the console it self is almost as powerful as the PS4 so i don't see why it will only be 720p lol but i guess we will see...

Yeah well, the PS4 gets made by "slave" labour.

Not gonna mention that Xbone comes off the same factory floor...

Lol and the Xbox is $100 more than the PS4,and Microsoft was arguing before that their specs we better than the PS4.

As soon as I find a direct-feed video or a native screenshot on Ghosts taken on a One, I can actually pixel-count it and tell you if it's native or upscaled. But for now...

Every Xbox One title will upscale automatically to 1080p, as Glordit correctly pointed out. So take every screenshot as upscaled until someone can capture the raw frame output in a capture card for our benefit.

Honestly it is nothing to be shocked about, with so much details going into games it would be impossible to make it full HD, with all the detail. You come to a cross roads. Either lower the graphics and increase the resolution or increase the resolution and lower the graphics. Now I did not just pay R6000~ to play BF4 looking like BF2 at 1080p.

Now the plot thickens with Killzone having 1080p in MP, but 720p in SP. The dev's where clever with this one, MP less taxing on the system as it does not have to process 24 AI opponents and an massive map as well as many other things like event timers and what not. In MP it just has to render the players and the area in which they are playing, as well as a few event timers but those are set by the arena.

But it doesn't make sense, particularly when you look at the scores of a HD7770 in modern games at 1080p with max settings, usually scoring right around 30fps. I believe it's to do with the eSRAM and slow DDR3 memory. Cerny himself said that looking at the facts, developing a game to take advantage of eSRAM was a difficult thing to do, almost as difficult as developing on the PS3. When Carmack was developing RAGE (I'll find the actual quote later) he noted that eSRAM required you to think and code very differently to take advantage of it.

Wait, what? Where did you hear this?
