Convince me to: buy a PS4 in 2013.

Howsit guys and gals,

Can anyone here form a valid argument to purchase a PS4 in 2013? I think this might be a lot tougher to do now, with all the day 1 games being delayed, than it was a month or 2 ago.

In my opinion, the fact that the PS4 is releasing months before the XBOX One in South Africa has been completely nullified by the fact that most of the AAA day titles have been delayed until next year anyways.

As far as I can see from the list of day one available games - picture from IGN - you'll still have more than enough games to play on your new PS4.

But if you posted this chances are that you're more looking forward to the games that have been postponed...games like Watchdogs and DriveClub...am I right?

So here is my opinion: if you currently own a PS3 or a decent gaming PC, and are more looking forward to games coming next year, then rather wait to get the console next year. You can then spend the time looking at how the internet reacts to the console, and hopefully any launch-day issues will be sorted before you get it then. Also, next year you'll be able to compare the SA retail price of the PS4 with the Xbone, and make an even more informed choice on whether you should shell out for a new console or not.

Personally, I'm getting a Xbone at lauch day, mainly because of games like Ryse and Forza 5 that I just can't wait to play. Unfortunately none of the PS4 line-up excites me enough to buy a PS4. So for your own purchase, have a look at the line-up above, and if nothing excites you to the point where you absolutely HAVE to have the console at launch, wait until next year and see how things progress. So it will all come down to the games...as it should with the new consoles.

I am in the same boat, I can't see the rush to go out and buy the console.

I will wait till next year and see what the general consensus is regarding the console.

If only M$ came out and gave us a local release date.

I don't think you should need others to convince you to buy a PS4. At the end of the day, the choice will be entirely up to you. Do you think it's worth it to buy it? Even IF I had that amount of money, I'd still wait until it goes a little cheaper (which will take a while). IMO.

LOL @ the GIF replies to the thread. WIN :)

I agree with you Hammer, when it comes to the XBONE, I'm buying it one day one due to one single game: Forza 5.

For now though, I think my PS4 purchase will need to wait until next year. Since some of the people at work are getting retrenched and we've been told there will be NO bonuses next year, I guess splurging on a games console really isn't the smartest thing to do any ways.

I'm also perfectly happy waiting until next year. I want to avoid any launch issues (if there are any) and see what people think of the console etc., but the main reason is that I want to buy the PS4 and inFAMOUS Second Son on the same day so I will wait until it drops. This should also give me enough time to save up for a PS4.

Will buy an Xbone when it becomes cheaper to play Dead Rising 3 (if it doesn't come to PS4 at some point). My brother might buy one at launch for Forza though ...

I would personally not get a PS4 in 2013. I am waiting till middle to end 2014 before I look at one as there are still some great games being released for PS3 and I have a load of PS3 games still to finish. Those that are multi-platform games look way better on PS4 e.g. AC: Black Flag and BF4, so I will not get these on PS3 but rather on PS4.

This gives me time to scope out the console, get good feedback online regarding possible issues it might have like overheating, etc. and hopefully the prices will stabilize. So I'm not in a hurry.

If you don't have a console then I'd say get one but only if you can get it at a good price. Seeing as it is a launch date purchase, I cannot see that anyone will get a great deal as retailers will push for the highest price possible.

No its not.

XB1 will be cheaper in Brazil, Microsoft has confirmed that they will make attempts to get the console made in Brazil or import it for cheaper.

To put it in perspective, if the PS4 and Xbox One were to be sold in the United States at that price level, they would cost $1,833.60 and $1008.48, respectively.
