Telkom Internet has announced Internet speed upgrades and price cuts for existing consumer and business customers

We are being upgraded automatically for free to 10mb from 4mb but this doesn't help me at all 'cause I'll have to up my uncapped ISP package and pay more. This makes me sad. I do wonder if I will get "true 4mb/s" line speeds now with the 10mb line or still sub 3.2mb/s?

I reckon all the ISP's will up their offerings for free, just like Telkom has.

Same thing in practise. You just "downgrade" back to 2Mb/s once they upgrade you and you will pay less.

I can't comment on what your real world speeds would be like after the upgrade, but you should consider downgrading back to a 4mb line if the cost vs quality is not worth it.

All packages prices have droped a level in cost to accomodate for increases line speeds incoming from telkom, so 4mb will become a 10mb uncapped for price you used to paying for 4mb uncapped..

Voxtelecom / @lantic did the same for me last month, they bumped my cap from 5gigs to 20 gigs at basically no extra cost.

Nice! a ping of 0ms.. Lucky overseas people! But in 5 - 10 years we should also be in their league.. it's just a matter of time
