Android 4.4 coming to Devices With As Little As 512MB Of RAM

This would be great for my Xperia Play, but I doubt Sony would give it any love. Will have to look at XDA for this phone.

So i guess then that all phones will preform better like my note 2 which loves using mem when i play games

I can see a a whole lot of people who got hand me down phones getting very happy now :p

Oi, some of us don't get hand me downs, our children swipe the contract phones... cause they on prepaid :D

I just hope OEM's jump on board else its of no use to people who don't know how to root & flash.

I have a Galaxy S2 and I waited a year before Samsung released a stock JellyBean Rom. I'll most probably need to look for a custom Rom on XDA like CM10 or 11 when KitKat comes out, if somone adapts it for the S2. It is such a pain figuring out which Rom works with you specific model.

Samsung is really bad with OS support when it comes to the older models.

I've got Slimbean for my S2 and really miss the touchwiz UI, so I'm gonna revert back to 4.1 when I have some spare time next week.

Don't see why these 'purists' want stock android where half the apps don't work and you struggle with just syncing your contacts with your FB contacts. . .

That sounds more like the ROM you're using rather than stock android. Also rare to see someone say they like Touch wiz

Think Android 4.4 will run on a Wildfire S? I'm still using the stock 2.3.5, and it's awful. HTC never bothered trying to update it.

Can always flash your phone with a new OS, it's somewhat tricky but once you have done it, you'll never forget. Did it with an older phone of mine Galaxy Y, flashed it from 2.2 to 2.3.1/2.4 and it worked flawlessly.

I have no idea. The screen resolution might be an issue for 4.4. I remember that my HTC Desire could nor run a certain Rom because of the resolution restrictions. You'll have to wait and see if someone releases w custom Rom for your phone.

Touchwiz is the stock Samsung rom, where you swipe to call and text, the Samsung also syncs better with your FB account and I can for example have it link all my FB friends with contact numbers even if they were not on my phone, I have downloaded about 4 apps to synch FB pics with my contacts and it just doesn't get all of them.

I'll miss the new clock widget which I really like with 4.3 but I bet I would be able to DL a duplicate widget.

I'm very excited about 4.4, it looks like a game changer. Google has specifically made some decisions to allow non-rooted non-vanilla users to ditch some of the vendor apps, without having to root. Smart smart smart.

That said, as soon as a 4.4 ROM is a available for my S3, I'm rooting and installing.

The sync issue will be your contacts/sync app, rather than your ROM giving the issue. The ROM itself doesn't handle anything like that.

I know, but so far every app I have tried cannot do what the Samsung contacts app can do, which is infuriating. . .

Yeah, I get that. I was just trying to emphasize that the blame doesn't lay with the ROM itself. :)
