We've had some heavy conversations in the office and around braai fires about this all around the country, and my view point is this, we need to move away from democracy as it is in it's current form, it should be a bit more complex as per who gets to vote. Before being dismissive, quite a few people have agreed to some of my points, it would be a very interesting world if it worked as follows:
Meritocracy - where individuals will get voting power based on their contribution to the country, or based on merit, say for instance if you have no matric, you get 1 vote, if you have matric you get 2, if you pay tax you get 3, if you have a qualification you get 4 and so on and so on, this would be a much better way to decide who you govern instead of people who don't contribute get the same amount of voting power as those that really deserve more power to vote, if you get what I'm saying, I mean wouldn't it just be a lot better?
The metrics for your merit system is up for debate, but I just want to hear about opinions regarding this way of deciding who votes?
