X Rebirth -- Anyone looking forward to it?

This one is intended to be a bit more new-player-friendly.
They're basically big-ass sandbox space sims where you can be the usual pirate, trader, mercenary, police; build up a space empire, a fleet of ships and essentially just go crazy.
Biggest criticism levelled at this one is that you also only have one somewhat-customisable ship but, apparently, you can't pilot bigger ships yourself. Which sucks a bit but I'm sure someone will mod it
I loved X3 back in the day--spend days building up my industry and my automated fleet. Really hope this one sucks me in as much as X3 did.

Played all the X games so far, enjoyed them. My biggest criticism and what will hold me back from getting the latest is that you could not use more than one menu at a time in the game, no multitasking and that has become a bigger and bigger concern as technology has moved on.
Has that changed? Can you move the windows of data around now and have more than one open?

Yeah, it's boring me to tears right now. Terrible animations (not a big deal, but still), there's some stupid gameplay gimmick where you can loot chests and crawl through vent ducts to collect trade wares that you can sell, and some credits but it's so tedious and such a waste of time... Finding a place to dock can take a good number of minutes (stations have multiple places you can dock so you bounce around, especially if you're looking for a landing place with a specific crew member type that you're after--and not all crew member types are hireable--so what the hell are they even doing on the stations with a big "DEFENCE OFFICER" tag on them as though they were available?).
Oh, and the new "highway" jump system is ridiculously stupid and tedious to use.
It has a lot of potential but I'd say that, right now, it's a massive waste of money.
X3 was a much better game (in the end).

My lack of bandwith, not being able to find a box copy anywhere and reports of bad performance even on super CPU PC's have put me off the game. I cannot stand bad framerates.

R500 plus on this has taught me to never buy again before I've tried it.
A fan of X3 and the Eve this was truely disappointing. Saw the videos and thought that they'd take X3 and added some sweet new graphics and additional features.
Wow I was wrong. Have this cockpit that you can't move or look around in, unless you try look at the map or do a trade, then it swivels you away so you can't see where you're flying and can't steer anymore.
The new highway thing is totally crap. It's a bit akin to being dropped off in the middle of china with a bunch of highways and no idea where they go. I swear one mission took me through 3 highways to get somewhere and then one to get me back to where I started.
The maps are totally confusing. I've managed to decode the galaxy and region levels, but the local system is total greek to me. Actually it's not, greek was easier to understand.
Joystick support is near non exisitant... for petes sake can't even use the trigger button to fire anything, but can use z or y axis (twisty axis) ???
There is no autopilot.
Menus are total crap. Clearly built for a gamepad. Press enter, select a number and maybe the option you want is like 5 pages later.
And I hear another @#$@#$ "show me your wares/shields/engines/weapons/drones/wares/wares" in that stupid crappy voice I'll kill someone. If anyone played Arma 2 and know that horrible disjointed speech when issuing orders or seeing an enemy... well it sounds the same and you hear it everytime you speak to a vendor.
And if you do eventually trade stuff. you need to freighter to pick it up and then deliver it to where-ever you're selling it. I've not seen a way to give them orders to go off and trade. You've got to go to another station yourself, conduct that sales agreement and then wait for your freighter to eventually catch up to you and unload the cargo. Imagine it this way. You buy something in Durban and load up your truck. Drive to JHB at 120kmh while your truck follows at 80. You complete the sale and wait for your truck to arrive and unload and you can't leave, because then you're truck will follow you there. (I hope I'm wrong about this, but so far that's all I've seen).
All I wanted was X3 with updated graphics and fixed things like the out of sector combat, instead I got guys doing squats while I talk to them and billions of lockers and airvents to crawl through and loot. *sadface*

haha... Eniigma... I'm both happy and sorry to say that I'm glad that I'm not the only one with buyer's remorse.
I've played it for three hours. I can't take it any more.
