Is there any way of doing some kind of mouse benchmark test to see how your mouse compares with other mice?

I just wanna check my polling rate, etc, etc

Is this possible to do some kind of test?

A mouse is a mouse. Better mouse = good comfort, DPI that you need, wireless (If you need it). What would be the point of benchmarking a mouse? Look at the specs.

DPI is nothing...
You want a good polling rate, that is more important than sensitivity.

I just wanted to see how my mouse matches up.

Simply put your DPI is the speed your mouse moves across the screen. I prefer my DPI at 1800, therefore anything more is useless :)
Higher DPI = Faster movement across the screen. :p

Actually that would be sensitivity. DPI does increase the sensitivity because it increases your tracking speed. Higher tracking speed means higher accuracy. Maybe you should both do a quick Google search before you post.

Polling rate you can see on the packaging / manufacturer's site. Better than buying and then benchmarking each one.

Something else I found was to get a proper mouse pad, I do actually feel a huge difference after replacing mine with a Razer one a while back.

I wouldn't necessarily say that a higher DPI increases accuracy. That's all down to the user.

DPI increases or decreases the sensitivity of the mouse, which in turns increases or decreases hand movement while playing.

The polling rate would be a much more important factor. The polling rate determines how often information is sent to the computer. The higher the polling rate, the shorter the time.

1000hz = 1 millisec
500hz = 2millisec
250hz = 4 millisec

Firstly I didn't say polling rate wasn't necessary.

I already said higher DPI means higher sensitivity because it means it tracks your movement more sensitively. Lets say you have a high resolution of about 1920x1080. There are quite a few pixels there. Higher DPI means you will be able to hit the pixel you want to hit more accurately as it picks up more "Dots Per Inch". The higher the resolution the less sensitive your mouse will become with the same DPI. Please just search this...

By the way the input lag would not be noticeable until all your input lag reaches a certain point, so no I would not say that 2ms would make much of a difference. DPI is more important for most, certainly for FPS players.

I know what DPI is. I was referring to your statement about DPI making the user more accurate.

And in my post, I didn't mention DPI wasn't important. I just stated the polling rate was more important.

This is becoming a nice argument here :D

DPI may 'increase accuracy', but in-game having lower sensitivity is better, so most hardcore FPS guys wont need anything above 1000dpi (or they have no idea how to set themselves up to play)...

Agree with duckknuckle, the polling rate is more important to some people (me included)

You clearly didn't read what I said earlier. You can just decrease in game sensitivity and Windows' sensitivity. It is not the same thing.
