Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Damn dude, that's fucked up. Have you tried going in SP first and then switching to MP from there?

Yup, tried that as well. Logged a ticket with Ubi - seems to be a Windows 8 issue. I'm not the only one by the looks of things.
If I didn't have the SP or another new game to play tonight I would have been seriously pissed.

Has anybody here progressed far enough in the main quest to get access to Kenway's Fleet yet?

I've been playing with the fleet for a while now. Not a lot of reward at the start, but when you capture a big frigate or a brig, you can add it to your fleet which is nice.

Yeah, the fleet is awesome. Can make a decent amount of money with it and you can also boost friends' ships, which helps a lot since some of the routes take 24 hours (real time) to complete.

How does one help a friend on their quests? I didn't see the option anywhere...

If they have ships that are currently on a mission you will see them at ships in progress, should be in blue.

I just boosted both of yours and you should see mine in a couple of minutes, just making the route safe and then I'm sending a few ships out.

Well much obliged good sir. The moment I see one of your ships I'll send my salty see dogs to come and assist you

And I thank you in return my good man, sent one or two out now, you should see it.

Boosting friends also gets you more (awesome) firebarrels to make the ship battles easier, especially later one when the routes are protected by frigates and such.

Routes assisted. Quick question; how do I get more resources for the fleet missions?

Baie dankie! You get resources when doing ship battles to make the routes safer, not sure if there is another way. If all your routes are safe just give it some time, it does go back to hazardous etc. in time.

So I played a bunch this weekend and I have a few thoughts. Firstly, this is probably the best AC game I've played since Brotherhood. The pirating aspect is everything I hoped for and more. There are however still the classic AC flaws that annoy the living crap out of me, the biggest of which are the instant fail state stealth missions...

Also the game is absolutely gorgeous. The ocean water is by far the best I've ever seen in a video game. Can't wait to get back to the seas tonight.

I love it, but I'm just getting a bit tired of the resource grind to upgrade my ship. On another note, only two upgrades to go for my broadside cannons and only one for my hull. :D

I can now take on frigates without much problems, but last night I got a level four wanted level and a giant Man o' War pirate hunter spawned and proceeded to decimate me. I couldn't even outrun the thing. And then let's not even begin to talk about the legendary ships. The very first time I saw one I was like "ooh, wat dis?" and then I was dead.

Agreed. Even just sailing around is a lot of fun. I never use fast travel or travel speed because it's just so calming to sail everywhere.

Oh yeah, for those of you who want to farm resources, I've found that the lower half of the map is filled with tougher ships carrying vast amounts of resources, while the upper half generally has lots of easy ships with few resources.

I like to hang around the south watching the english fight the spanish. Then when a ship is taken out I board her with no damage to me and then I attack the injured ship or else injured one first and 2nd for repairs.

Haha, yeah I did that a lot on PS3. Got my first man o war for my fleet thanks to a waterspout.

Right so MP is still borked on my side. Thankfully it's not as if there isn't much else to do. Got myself some new shanties and suffering from Havana syndrome.
