RIP Nelson mandela

He has been dead for a long time since earlier this year. Met him twice.

A titan of a man, and a sad day in history.

An inspiration to all of humanity - RIP Nelson Mandela.

I still say he died in August

Either way SA has lost a great inspirational leader and certainly a role-model of change for the good

R.I.P Madiba, lets hope the ANC gives him his peace and don't use this as a tool in the elections.
He did some great things for this country.

no he died at 10:50 tonight

“He passed on peacefully in the company of his family around 8:50PM on 5 December 2013. He is now resting. He is now at peace. Our people have lost a father. Although we knew that this day would come, nothing can diminish our sense of a profound and enduring loss.”

May the soul of a legend, a leader and a hero rest in peace. You will be missed Madiba! xxx

RIP Madiba. You have been an inspiration to millions of people around the world and your presence will be missed. But your legacy will live on forever

RIP Madiba

Guess his movie will make a killing now... also have my doubts that he died earlier this year, but they kept it secret and waited for his movie to be released to announce it... its possible, but anyway.

Can we keep this thread clear of all conspiracy theories and let's celebrate his life.

RIP - proof that one person can make a difference.

Nope. Can't do it. I cannot bring myself to celebrate the life of a terrorist who was responsible for killing innocent civilians including women and children. Many of you will find my comment "in bad taste" - when in actual fact it's the truth that stings. The hypocrisy being showcased today is extraordinary.

Maybe what most people are celebrating is his post-apartheid symbolism. Sadly his murderous acts which got him to that image is being quietly ignored like a huge white elephant in the corner of the room. I suppose people only remember, see and hear what they want to.

Note: I'm not here to troll, and I'm sorry if I offend someone. It's just that someone needs to say something. Seriously, we can't all be naive about this stuff. And no, my thoughts around this are not racially motivated. I just seem to know my history a lot better than others and I don't easily forget acts which kill women and children. I don't care what the person's motives were. He's standing in front of God now and he has a metric-buttload to explain. That's for sure. No more lies.

I would be interested in knowing, if you were in his position, what do you think you would have done differently? Do you think he regretted anything he did and would have done it differently if he could go back?

The bottom line is this:
Do you think this country would have been better or worse without him?
For me, this is a no-brainer.

Dude, I think so. Anyone who has a shred of moral fibre would regret killing another person - no matter what the reason. We'll never really know what went on in that man's head. But you do not go from killing innocent women and children (on purpose) to being a "saint" for everyone. That man had agendas which we'll never know about - and I cannot celebrate something that sinister.
