Steam account - Query account by CD-key

I have received an email like this twice now:

Dear Steam User,

This is an automated message generated by Steam account administration. It is being sent in response to a query made by a Steam user to discover all account names associated with this CD-key.

Steam account name: agentpooky

You can use the above account name to log in to Steam. If you can't remember your password, click on the "Retrieve lost account" button on the Steam login screen.

Better to contact steam,they might be able to tell you the IP of the person that made the query.

Nope, when you try and redeem/add a game that is already active it give you an error saying "The game is already added would you like to retrieve the account"



Guess you have a key that someone else is trying to activate. My guess its a key that someone gave via Steamgifts or such and trying to see if you did use it.

Just as an added security measure, you might want to add STEAM two step verification, if you havent done so already. (STEAM Guard)

It may have been one posted in a thread by someone on mygaming. I remember I used one of those a while ago.
