Google Nexus 7

Hey all,

Would any of you know where I could get my hands on a Nexus 7 (2013) both online store and a walk-in store (preferably).

I've read reviews stating its pretty awesome and I really need to get myself a tablet that is up to date with technological standards at an affordable price.

I prefer to pay cash and not be tied down to a contract, and a WiFi only model would be sufficient for me.

Whats your thoughts on the Nexus 7?

Any help and feedback will be deeply appreciated.

Just confirm with them before buying but the price seems to be correct.

As for if it is a good idea, hell yes.
Got the 2012 release and loving this thing to death. I got it primarily as an e-reader but I now also use it to stream music / series to and am very happy.

I've had an iPad2 before and though nicer as a more rounded unit. I like the Nexus since I can do what I want on it with far less copyright issues and ease of use connecting to a pc.

I am not saying shady files either, but I can now transfer my music library without the crap of using iTunes and its limitations.

Check with Incredible Connection as well as Hi-fi Corp.

I have the 2012 edition as well (thanks to the wonderful Mygaming people), I used an ipad2 before the nexus and the two are very similar, but the Nexus is easier to use, no itunes! I prefer the size of the nexus as well, smaller so it fits better into handbags and is lighter to carry.

I download all my unisa stuff onto it and use it to study with. So far I love it 10000000000 more than the ipad, using it daily for everything from email, webbrowsing, forums, gaming and watching movies and listening music on it. I just synced my google drive with it and use it as an e-reader, using google books to read with.

The ease of setup was the part that blew me away the most. It syncs your google account immediately and if you have an android phone it will sync up with that and install the apps you use on it.

Also bought mine from Orange. Its one of the cheaper offers around. Bidorbuy also has some competitively priced ones if you wanna check it out.

Great tablet for browsing/reading/gaming!

when it comes to gaming a 7 inch screen is perfect, depending on apps , resolution plays a big deal like on my 7inch galaxy tab 2 i have to view ebooks in landscape mode cause in portrait mode the text are to small.

What are you using as an e-reader?

adobe reader and moon reader

I recently swapped to The google books e-reader - works really great plus it is syncing with my phone so I can read on both devices and the app syncs the places I am in the book. You can normally enlarge the fonts tho in all e-readers.

i read pdf's mostly so you cant change the font size, only zoom

I haven't tried pdfs yet but I normally just grab the ebook for Google Books and it works really well on the 7". Very readable and as Wyvern said, it's all nicely synced with Google so if I ever decide to put a new rom on then it'll sync down again and be exactly where I left off :)

Same as Wyv, I use the Google Play Books, it links across to all Android devices and syncs your read pages even to your pc if you read on there.

The best thing for me was that I can upload my books on my pc and just mark it for download on my devices.
Same idea as Kindle app, but cheaper and a bit more freedom to load your own books.
