Deaf viewers of Nelson Mandela's memorial service have complained that the official sign language interpreter was a fraud who was "signing rubbish".

The Deaf Federation of South Africa told the BBC the man's signs were "arbitrary" and "did not make sense".

My deaf neighbour and best friend since the age of 5 taught me sign language and, most of the time, we'd just sign without using our voices. She also taught me that sign language varies around the world, however, when I saw this I thought "Where the heck is this guy from?" Pretty poor form trying to make a quick buck and believing that you can dupe the entire world ...

Apparently he regularly does this for ANC functions etc. That and he does the same set of moves over and over again, plus really a shiczo moment for the entire 6 hour service, that's serious and he shouldn't even be working

I would have expected at least some bloodshed if he really did have a break

I doubt there is a sign for "yoh yoh yoh yoh yoh yoh yoh yoh yoh these peoples yoh yoh yoh yoh yoh they must tell me when I am yoh yoh yoh yoh." That interview was funny, especially him trying to explain someone else was meant to do it but they never came.
