I tried. I really did. But there is just no reason....

...to buy a PS4 tomorrow.

I really wanted to be one of the early adopters for the next-gen console wave in the country. But damnit, there is NO viable reason to buy the PS4 now. It's not like the PS3 which was one of the first blu-ray players available. It also doesn't have a "system seller" title available at launch. Where is the new God of War? Where is the new InFamous? The games which are available are not really highly rated either, plus, they're helluva expensive.

Does anyone here have a good reason to buy a PS4 in 2013??

Na, my 360 and ps3 still have a bit of live left in them. I even recently put a new hdd in my ps3

Nah I also don't see a reason. In fact I'm going to wait at least a year before considering a next gen console. I've got a feeling that the Steam Machine is going to change console gaming the way that Steam changed PC gaming.

R800 a game with only a few games to choose from just doesn't sit right with me.

The only thing that makes me mildly giddy about the PS4 is that the PS3 prices will probably drop soon and then I may be able to justify buying one (a PS3, not 4).

Nope. Nothing about it looks particularly interesting to be honest (games I mean) - likewise with the Xbone.
I may consider a PS4 In about six months.

Yeah the launch games aren't the best but I'm still getting my PS4 Killzone Bundle tomorrow. MGS Ground Zeroes and Infamous Second Son are both releasing in March 2014, which isn't that far away :).

Can afford one (did some recalculations) but...
1. Limited Stock
2. Not many games
3. See 1.
4. See 2.

So I am waiting till The Division, Watch Dogs, MGS, Infamous and all the other cool games launch before I buy one, at this stage it will be mostly used as a Blu Ray player.

The only reason I have right now is;
1. Still long way to wait for XBoxOne
2. FnB allows me to pay it off

Also, just got Gran Turismo 6 and still need to work on Red Dead for X360 and finish off GTA5. So I think I still have a lot of fun ahead of me with my two consoles. Come to think of it, I need to give my PC some love too =P

Well that settles it :) We're all in the "playing our backlog" camp until next year sometime! At least I know I'm not alone. Although the techy inside me is screaming "I WANT ONE NOW!!!" lol

Like Neo said, buying a PS3 was easy for me, due to the BluRay player and not having any PC or other console at the time.

The PS4 has nothing new... no new optical drive, not even using a nice SSD... just another normal upgraded PS3... :(

I just find it funny that my 3 year old PC still beats the "Next Gen" consoles in terms of power. I'll be waiting till the Slim or Pro versions comes out before buying. By then the games list will have increased enough to justify it.

That's debatable dude. My PC has a 980X intel CPU at 4.2GHz and two GTX580s in SLI - and I can promise you now, these next gen consoles will outperform my PC by miles. The difference is "optimization". Something which the PC gamer desperately needs, but will probably never get. Consoles use 100% what's available to them. PC games probably only use 60% of the hardware efficiently. That's where the big difference comes in.

Next gen consoles will never ever outperform your setup. Optimized or not, consoles do not have anywhere near the same amount of power as your rig.

I guarantee you my PC, as it stands, will not be able to run GTA 5 in the same way my XBOX 360 runs it. Once again, optimization > brute power.

If I had the money totally spare and sitting around then I would think of getting one, although I'd need to get two because my wife is also a gamer. The problem I have (apart from not having the money) is I only play one game, BF4, and while I do love the game, spending R16000+ for two consoles and one game just doesn't sit well with me. That is one hell of a lot of money.

Just remember, your Xbox360 is pumping out GTA V @ 720p (according to the interwebs) while you'll probably be upping the resolution to 1080p once the PC version comes out.

Not sure if my sarcasm detector is broken, if it is then just ignore this then. Your PC has a Hexa-Core i7 clocked a 4.2 GHz per core. The, now current, gen consoles have a Quad Core APU clocked at 1.6 GHz. I'm not so good with maths, but PC wins.

Your PC has 2 GTX580's in SLI, each with 1.58 teraflops, which equals 3.16 teraflops of power. The consoles have about 1.71 teraflops, something akin to a AMD 7770. PC wins!

Just guessing here, but you probably have either 4 or 8 gigs of RAM? Either way, I don't know many games on PC that use more than 4 gigs. "Next-Gen" games like COD: Ghosts place artificial 6GB RAM restrictions, when it only uses 2 gigs in reality. They removed that in a recent patch, but seriously though, this "next-gen" isn't happening on consoles yet. The first looking "next gen" game that I've seen is Infamous Second Son, which is only coming out next year.

The XB1 still struggles with 720p, while your PC can easily run most games on high at 1080p at 60FPS I'm sure. Also Steam sales/Humble Bundles mitigate the cost of building a PC. I don't know anyone that has more that 100 games on a console (R500 [Actually now R800] x 100 = A lot of money), yet most people I know on PC have Steam libraries consisting of more than 100 games.

Even if your PC was only using 65% of it's power, it would still be slightly ahead of the consoles. Embrace your PC man, you have a good one ;) Better than mine anyway..."whistling:

I have nothing against the XB1 and PS4, but at the moment they are doing too little to differentiate from PC's. This is where Nintendo get's my love :p They provide a completely different experience to their competition, one that I can't get on PC. You can build a very good PC for the price of a PS4 + another controller + two games, and honestly, I see no reason not to. Every platform has it's exclusives, but none have the versatility and "openness" of the PC.
