Gran Turismo 6 fails in the sound track department

Many have asked why can't the Gran Turismo team get the exhaust sound right? This is where they always fail to impress, according to me. A few cars to mention are the VW Golf 5 GTI, Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG and E55 AMG, Audi RS6 etc. The recent flaw was seen in Gran Turismo 6 with the new BMW M4. Gamers compared the in-game sound with the real-life sound and were disappointed that GT6 failed to impress, yet again. Visit www.autoevolution/bmw-blog.com to see the video.

I don't know. Very debatable subject. Yes, the sounds aren't the greatest and a big improvement on GT5 but also bare in mind what sort of sound system you playing it on. I'm playing on my quadraphonic amp and Hi Fi system, and I must say, it sounds beautiful. Then again, so does Forza. Though they each have distinct differences in their version of authenticity. I still think it sounds good, but not with built in TV speakers.

You have a point there. I took my PS to the living room, connected it to the home theater system and i must say it sounds brilliant.

From Forza 3's days I was impressed with the amount of work that went into the sound design of the game. I believe the Forza 3 collector's edition has a whole section on the stuff they did to get the cars pitch perfect for the game. I highly doubt GT6's developers and designers bothered with that level of detail. Forza seems like a franchise driven by passion for the sport. A real passion for detail. GT seems like a passion for money. And it shows.

It all comes down to quantity over quality. Yes GT6 has 1200 odd cars, but there is no way the developers can spend time and money on making every little detail on each car perfect. Forza has a lot less content, but what it has is very high quality levels.

Fixed :)

Saying Polyphony is passionate about money and not motorsport is very ignorant. Kazunori Yamauchi is known to be very passionate about motorsport and cars in general. Polyphony has said that the GT6 that released is not the final game and they plan to continually improve everything (the sound as well) with future update as well. Again, I don't play simulators and I am not interested in either of the two, but from what I have heard from people playing the game GT6 is one of the best racing simulators ever released and what it does, it does really well.

for those not in the know the difference in the car sounds between the 2 games is that GT has been porting their sounds over since GT 3.

Forza on the other hand has gone the extra mile and along with every new game comes new engine noise, what they do is take every car and push it on a dyno and take it through it's paces and record those sound from 5 or 6 different points around the car incl the engine and exhaust.

and the always have 2 or 3 of the same car for different specs from standard to fully tuned so that they make sure the sound is spot on. GT doesn't go through that much effort, you can actually compare the two if possible by having the same car on both systems on the same sound system.

we have done this and there is a huge difference

But when i first read this i though you were talking about game music and there to i have to say that forza just has better in game music than GT (But that's my feeling)

Very well said and agree completely, I was actually almost insulted by that post saying that GT6 is in it for the money.

Agree with you on the music department, I actually turn it off in GT6. But I only have music in the menus only.

GT is the best simulation game ever, but if they ignore the finner details, which Forza capitalises on, surely Forza will strip GT off its title. GT should also stop including different versions of the same car because thats quite annoying.

Have you ever driven a car round a racetrack? Having personally done so a couple of times in different cars, I can tell you now that GT's car handling physics sucks. There's no other word for it - it sucks. Forza on the other hand is almost spot on. So in the simulation department, GT has lost the plot years ago. GT should roll-over and die. It's starting to smell.

I don't even want to waste my time arguing with you, but just know that you are wrong. GT6 is one of the best simulation games ever made. Fact. Haven't played Forza 5 yet so I can't compare the two, but the physics and handling in GT6 are near perfect. Again, I don't play these games but I've spoken to a lot of people who do and some of them have actually driven a car around a race track a couple of times.

Also, Yamauchi-san is a race car fanatic and has done a few events himself as well, so I'm pretty sure he (and his team at polyphony) know how to make a simulator.

Title is a tad misleading. I thought you were referring to the soundtrack, not the sound effects. Gran Turismo's soundtrack is something people take very seriously.

Wlad unfortunately i have to agree with Neo if you have ever raced a real racing car or a normal but tuned care for that matter around a track you will realize the flaw in your argument. I have now played both and Forza kicks GT's ass six love my friend it's still an old engine they using and a shitload of ported cars from most of the other GT titles

I still stand by what I said. I trust my brother and his friends' opinion more than that of someone on a forum. All of them agree that Forza 4 is better than GT5, but GT6 is still better than both. And yes, they have driven tuned cars around racetracks, they are all HUGE petrolheads.

Let them play both on the same TV with the same sound setup and hear what they say then...............

But I'm not talking about the sound, I agree sound in GT is shit. It sounds like the cars have vacuum cleaners for engines, lol. I'm talking about driving physics and handling only because that's the only thing that matters to them (being big racing enthusiasts), great sound and visuals are nice but not all that important.

Sad to see all this blatant trolling from fans of both gt and forza both games have issue's but both are the best at what they do on each respective console .I will take gt or forza over any other driving game.
