Interesting - professional, hobby or study project?

Hobby currently, hoping to move on to professional soon.

Already learned the software for 4 years now, only need to fill in the gaps to make modeling easier and faster.
Became a Citizen on CGCookie at the start of the month to learn a bit more.

It comes with a ton of courses and tutorials for under R200 a month (drawing, game making,3d modeling just to name a few)

I have a B.Com Informatics degree from RAU. It's probably very different these days though.

I was there for a week course at the start of December, wasn't that bad to me. Chairs are comfy
they failed me on 2 subject that i know for a fact i passed... i know have to pay them a further R150 per subject to have them remarked.... unisa has this very bad habit of only marking a certain amount of exam papers and then hands out averages to everyone else.... so if the majority of students did badly guess what if your exam paper wasnt one of the ones marked you get a fail....

That's bull, don't they refund if you pass though. good thing I passed this year or I could have been forced into unisa next year

External IT audit?

So you want to function as IT audit support (ITGCs and application reviews) for the CAs doing the financial audit?

Pretty much, I got very interested learning the basics off IT auditing and I love working with computers etc. I'm sure I'll see more when I start working next year

Cool. Audit support work can be pretty interesting, especially when you do detailed application reviews, or other 'specials' for financial audit. The ITGC work is interesting the first five or six times, but once you've done one ITGC from start to finish, you've done them all.

Of course, if you're at one of the big four, and if/when you move into the consulting team (or audit support team), there is a ridiculous amount of cool work you can do, the majority of which isn't necessarily audit :)

No big 4 for me, I'm signed with Grant Thornton. They seem very keen with IT and auditing though
