mm....speaking of work, anyone got a challenging work environment for a very bored and about to jump off the roof junior network admin? I am sooooooooooooo bored here....

Define challenging.
As in:
A) Getting a bunch of computers to talk to each other where half of them still run '95.
B) Needing to climb tall structures that actually require a safety harness while carrying a UPS in a back-pack.
C) Explaining to elderly employees over the phone how to fix their printers.
D) Installing computers in places that are so far off the beaten path that you need a Landcruiser because no other vehicles can handle the road.

Did you answers "Hell, yes" to all the options above? I'll PM you as soon as somebody gets fired/quits/forgets his harness.

i've seen some companies running are still running dos based apps on the POS !

Most of our stuff run on Unix or Windows but we do have two or three branches (see point 'D') that still run a Cobol POS in a dos environment. There is apparently a reason for it, but nobody bothered to explain it to me and I'm too much of a slacker to care enough to find out what it is.

Even without the big 4, I recall GT having a separate consulting-type division?

Either way, it's definitely a good career path to choose. There is a large amount of demand for people with IT audit/IT risk management skills. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about IT audit.

And on a completely unrelated topic, I seem to be going through a phase in my life where I am (please don't take offence, ladies of MG - this isn't aimed at you) attracted to utterly batshit insane women. I mean, Completely. Fucking. Insane.

I don't understand why this is happening now, but it's seriously messing with my mojo. Atleast it's nearly holiday time, and I can game all day and recover my equilibrium.
