The official Kingdom Come: Deliverance thread

Came across this today. It looks like an interesting premise for an RPG:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
REALISTIC OPEN WORLD FIRST PERSON MEDIEVAL RPG
Kingdom-Come-610x346.jpg

It sounds like it will be something like Mount & Blade in it's realistic setting but will have a storyline (and probably side quests) to follow. It makes a nice departure from the usual fantasy setting found in many RPG's.

"As players traverse expansive, strikingly detailed locales, they'll grapple with a range of period- accurate fighting techniques, horseback combat, open-field sieges, and large-scale battles, all while developing relationships and a reputation that will inform the greater story. Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones - it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare."

Care for a next-gen medieval RPG with no fantasy?

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-12-19-care-for-a-next-gen-medieval-rpg-with-no-fantasy

ORIGINAL STORY: Almost exactly a year ago, a Czech studio led by former Mafia maker Daniel Vávra made waves with a tech demo teasing what a next-gen medieval RPG could look like, albeit on a fairly ropey laptop.

Now the game is finally ready to unveil as Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a "realistic open-world first-person medieval RPG" for PC and "next-gen platforms" in 2015. CryEngine 3 powers it.

Realism is the key. "Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones - it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare," stated a press release now sent to Eurogamer.

That means period-accurate fighting techniques and "revolutionary first-person melee combat", apparently. There's horseback combat, open-field sieges and big fat fights. It's based around the Holy Roman Empire and the last days of the Middle Ages. The number 1403 is contained in the game's logo, and is presumably a date.

Commented Vávra: "The team's ambition for Kingdom Come: Deliverance is growing this ever-maturing sandbox genre in a believable, real-world context and scope. To that end, we're harnessing CryEngine 3, non-linear narrative, varied freedom in character progression, and a consequence-laden living world in ways that have never been possible until now."

All I have to say is I really have been itching for a open world medieval rpg :)

If it plays like M&B warband (the original and 3rd one was kinda meh), then I'm excited.
2015 is still kinda far away though...

Kingdom Come: Deliverence Unveiled

Warhorse Studios would very much like to develop Kingdom Come: Deliverance for release on Xbox One. There are two obstacles to this, at the time of writing. One, Microsoft needs to give its consent - presumably, Warhorse has been in touch with the ID@Xbox team about self-publishing the game via Xbox Live. Two, the developer needs money. At least £300,000, to be precise, comprising 10 per cent of the overall budget. You can help with that.

Why would you bother? Because Deliverance is (deep breath) a first-person medieval sword-fighting game that takes place in a realistically styled open world and allows you to participate in an actual castle siege, with ladders and crenelations and everything. Or rather, it will be all of those things providing everything goes to plan.

Warhorse has created a Kickstarter page for the game, plus some scripted "target" gameplay footage. Have a gander. Tempting, no?

Doesn't look too bad. So many Kickstarter games these days though. I wonder how many of them will actually see the light of day.

They will need more than 300 thousand pounds to make a game that looks that good. Next thing you know there will be stretch goals and then episodes.lol

Medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance seeks funding on Kickstarter

Kingdom Come: Deliverance developer Warhorse Studios has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund its RPG epic. The crowdfunding goal is set at £300,000 (aprox. $500K USD]. Warhorse, which was founded by Mafia 2 designer Daniel Vávra, had originally described its trials and tribulations in looking for a suitable publisher for the game when it was first announced last month.

"So far $1.5m [USD] has been invested into Kingdom Come: Deliverance, largely from a single investor outside the games industry. This is a big and expensive game, and we could hardly hope to raise the entire budget needed on Kickstarter alone," Vávra said in a press release announcing the campaign. The crowdfunding drive, Vávra revealed, ties into an agreement made for additional outside funding: "If we raise the relatively reasonable sum of US$500k, it is proof for him that the game has potential, and he would continue to finance us."

Kingdom Come is a CryEngine-powered open world, action-adventure RPG set in the "Holy Roman Empire during the Middle Ages" and features large-scale, first-person battles.

Warhorse lists PC, Mac, and Linux as primary platforms for a Q4 2015 release, with the intent to bring the game to both PS4 and Xbox One, subject to platform approvals.

Kingdome Come : Deliverance

Hey guys :)

Has anyone been tracking this game? It looks really interesting. Realistic Medieval first person RPG. The fighting mechanics seem really solid too, and it looks (crucially imo) like a true open world game. I'm not the biggest fan of first person view, but this looks real promising.

It's quite a big budget game, and it's only on Kickstarter in order to convince the investor that there is interest in the game (according to the devs).

EDIT: Ughh, realised this has already been posted, the mods can delete this :(

Looks like they have reached their £300 000 Kickstarter goal within 2 days:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance smashes Kickstarter goal

Medieval (but with no fantasy) RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance has sailed past its Kickstarter goal in less than two days.

The game, which hopes to make it to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 alongside PC, Mac, and Linux, asked for £300,000 to be funded, but is currently sitting at £332,558. The funding period runs until February 20, so it's likely that the game will accrue a sizable chunk of cash.

Backers who invest £15 or more will get access to the game when it's out, with additional donation tiers also doling out pre-release play and other goodies.

Kingdom Come is scheduled to be released in three acts, with the first released in December 2015--though things could change depending on how development progresses.

They mention in the video that they have a private investor and the kickstarter campaign was more to convince the investor that there is a demand for the game.

I personally think this is something I have really wanted. The combat looks perfect for sword play. I hope you get to be a knights Templar :D

Some more info on Kingdom Come and a video showing off the realistic first person combat. It looks pretty awesome, the combat reminds me of Chivalry but there seem to be some nice features added to it.

Looks insanely difficult, even with the auto block. The archery looks badass and has me sold :D

I juts hope it has a decent story and proper MP in time.

If it plays like M&B then I am staying far far away! Too much of my life has been lost to that monster:confused: :p

But this does actually looks like a more polished version of Warband so I guess I should look forward to being routed by some bandits :(
