Horrible Experience at Rebel Tech

Unhappy Camper has been refunded, I do believe Rune spoke to him this morning and now the issue is resolved.
Guys if anyone has any issues with Rebeltech please feel free to drop me a pm and I'll gladly help out with any issues you may be experiencing.

Any specific reason that it took so long to resolve or are we only hearing Unhappy Camper's side of the story?

Sorry, guys. Was busy this morning. I did indeed receive an email this morning from Rebel Tech saying the money has been released. I am just waiting for it to clear now, I believe. It's from standard to fnb so I am hoping for tonight some time. Fingers crossed.

Rune also gave me a call this early today and was extremely apologetic and concerned. He seems like a really nice guy overall in that he is even willing to collect and refund me for the other parts I received from Rebel Tech (R1000+) when he returns Jan 6. Awesome stuff. He was also completely unaware that the refund was delayed as long as had been until I posted on facebook on the Thursday. He said he would have a talk with his staff and see what was going on there as soon as he gets back and find out who is responsible.

What seems to be going on there is problems with the staff and not the owner. As a customer, this is not my concern, but it is nice to know that people are being held accountable and that as a result we may be getting some better service.

@Fival To the credibility of my claim: I'm not sure of the legal implications of me pastebining the history of my correspondence them, not to mention that I would have to redact some personal stuff, possibly. In any case, since the whole situation is most likely resolved, there is no need to do that.

The crosspost link is in the original post on mine.

As for making a new thread, I should have done that... maybe, but if this gets sorted out there is no need for me to go on more of a rampage than i have already done.

Thanks, all.

Edit: And a special thanks to The Joker for passing on the message.

Not to make excuses for their shoddy service, but it does seem that unless Rune is involved very little happens. I had a similar experience where Rune had used some temp staff to manage his operations - the outcome was not great. Quality of staff is so important in a customer service environment.

If it takes the owner to give good service then there is a problem. Sounds like they need to look into implementing a quality management system, systems, procedures etc... The business should be able to run well without the owner needing to fight fires.

Glad this was resolved :)

Guys like I said earlier, please drop me a pm if you have any problems or if you need help with something, Whether its Rebeltech or Hardware related, I'll always help :)

Yesterday I was recommended by a forum user about parts at a good price (from Rebel Tech)(since I'm doing [basically a brand new PC build]), did a comparison, and their prices turn out cheaper than the competitor, so I've created an account with Rebel Tech and added (4) items to my cart already.

I'm just curious about my online purchases' security. Haven't personally done any online purchases, and those paying for my components have -- so I want to know if I should order online, that all will go smoothly and without any hiccups (since this is going to be a large sum of money), 'cause I'm definitely contemplating ordering these parts.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

I've ordered from Rebeltech 3 times, Wootware, LandmarkPC and Evetech god knows how many times. It's extremely secure and safe.

My only gripe with Rebeltech is that orders ALWAYS take over 2 weeks to be delivered. Regardless of the status of the item on their site. I ordered a couple things with next day delivery as they stated everything was in stock. Then 3 days later I email them and they tell me the supplier was OOS. Stuff like that never happened with LMP, Wootware or Evetech.

Stuff like that is why I won't use Rebeltech then. If I order something and it tells me it's in stock, I don't want it two weeks later.

Not an unreasonable expectation to have but the majority of smaller online tech sites do not carry stock, they just cannot afford to.

True but on the other hand the seller relies on the information supplied by his supplier and sometimes shit happens in that communication link. One could then argue that sellers should hold stock and use that for sales but low stock levels are what make these businesses competitive and viable.

To me it comes to 2 options, safety stock and charging another 10%/20% on the price or relying on supplier stock and passing my savings on to the customer. Also saying that, the supplier stock out isn't unique to rebeltech, it's happened to me at another site also.

They'd have to increase prices dramatically - more than 20% I suspect. On a scale that small Rebel/Wootware etc holding stock on hand just isn't feasible. Remember they'd have to cover both the cost of being stuck with random unsold items and they've need to cover the increase working capital cost.

The system is fine as is (i.e. upstream supplier holds the stock) - the communication just isn't. Promising next day deliver & missing it by 2 weeks is not ideal.

Thanks for repeating what I said.

I just used 20% as a conservative estimate (saying that costs could include insurance, holding costs, obsolete risk, deffered tax, security, etc). I was trying to say the options are pay a higher mark up or life with the risk that all resellers have that 2 week risk (can't have your cake and eat it)

Yeah, I understand that. I just hate when it says something is in stock on their websites and then when it comes to delivery they suddenly want to tell me they don't actually have it in stock. I know it's often hard to keep track of stock levels, but they should really make an effort to keep their website up to date then.

With TakeAlot in particular I've had this problem on a few occasions. The latest was when I had to order textbooks for university which said they were in stock, but then changed to an estimated 14 days delivery time on my invoice. Two weeks is way too long in a case like that, seeing as I would then lose two weeks in which I could have started work on that module.

The biggest problem is that you then often have to try and weasel a refund out of them so that you can go buy it elsewhere where it will be delivered sooner. This process often takes numerous days in which I could already have ordered it and likely had it delivered from somewhere else.

My first experience with Rebeltech came today. I ordered a nice Be Quiet CPU cooler from them, to "test the waters". I placed my order about a week ago, and it arrived today at 3. Not bad, but not really great either.

Upon inspection of the item, I noticed some slight damage to the fan. I don't think it'll make much of a difference.

This is my first time working with an aftermarket cooler, but are the heatpipes supposed to look like this? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but it's just a bit concerning. They look rather dented.

Overall I'd say my experience with them is decent, they were the only company that had the product I was looking for, but it could have arrived it a better condition. That's probably the couriers fault though. The box was pretty beat up as well. I'll only be installing the cooler in a couple of weeks, once I get my Fractal Define R4. We shall see...

To add to this thread, ordered some items from Rebeltech last week Thursday (only a small order, to test them out), on Monday I got a email saying that they're still waiting on one of the items from their supplier, today I emailed to ask when I can expect delivery, got a speedy reply saying at the latest thursday... Few hours later got another email that the ETA of the outstanding item is to arrive at their office is only thursday, meh will probably only see my parcel next week, no biggie, but I have to say I used Wootware and Takealot a few times the past few months, and never have they taken more than 2 working days after payment was made... So yeah something to work on if they wanna compete with the big guys, especially considering the fact rebeltech charges the highest delivery fee (Takealot gives free delivery) with the slowest delivery time lol

Its unfortunate but sometimes things are out of stock, can't blame a retailer for that.
I also don't see the relevance here. You didn't have a bad experience and you didn't get bad service...You literally posted about an order that got delayed because of a stock shortage.

Just last week I had a package from Kalahari that also got delayed due to a stock issue, It was a gift for a friend..so be it, not the end of the world. I didn't run to a forum and post in a 6 month old thread about a stock issue that is in no way Kalahari's fault.

Online retailers almost never carry any physical stock.

Remember that next time.

If it says in stock on their website at the time of order it shouldn't take a week to be delivered, and also don't tell me the morning I'll receive the item at the latest Thurday, and then the afternoon come with a different story (Thats not considered good service by me)... Sorry didn't want to make a whole new thread and this is the only rebeltech one I could find, I saw the owner of rebeltech also reads this thread, and I'm sure any business owner likes customer feedback, whether good or bad...

Other online shops single out items that tend to take longer to be delivered, for example takealot will say 5-7 days delivery time, and wootware will say "Contact for availability", similar functionality shouldn't be much trouble to add to their website, and it'll sure save them hassle of not meeting customer expectations:)
