North West premier Thandi Modise's excuse for buying a R1.3 million BMW 750i is a slap in the face for the people of the province, the DA said on Monday.

"Premier Modise simply ignored the new policy and bought herself the most expensive car she could find," Democratic Alliance...read more here: North West premier R1.3-million car an insult to the poor: DA

I wouldn't say it's the most expensive car she could find but it is pathetic. They set a limit to expenditure on vehicles and this is hugely in conflict with that, she should pay the difference in cash.

I feel sorry for the guy who gets told they can't afford a desk and chair for his child at school, minus textbooks and what else but they can buy a 1,3 million car.

So that's where our tax money goes. Nothing new. Government officials driving expensive cars, living in luxury houses, eating fast food every day while the nation is poor, uneducated and hungry. Viva Africa.

I'll die before I pay a single cent of tax in this damned country so these pigs can stuff their fat bellies.

It is the most expensive within the guidelines of the ministerial handbook apparently.

Sorry if off topic, but do you think her car would come as a dlc to gt or forza or nfs, if not already there, and the car would be free because all the tax payers paid for it.

Ah yes - the mythical ministerial handbook.

If it says you can buy a 1.3m car, it doesn't mean you MUST - especially now after the ANC getting ripped new ones over Fat Jacob's Ass Palace.

This minister could have set an example and bought something much cheaper - imagine the positive PR then.

I would be nice if they told the ministers that they pay should cover their cars as well as all the cars in their blue light brigade, i wonder how big their entourage would be then.

Weren't they limited to a car of up to R750 000? That's just under half of that. Its ridiculous. They just don't care.
