Oculus Rift prototype greatly improved

This product needs to hit the market ASAP. The sooner, the better. I can't wait to experience VR with the improvements that they've done with this over the years. I mean, the sound, the visuals and the interaction. This might just be the product that I am most excited about this decade.

I've already saved up for one. I'm now saving to upgrade my computer when it comes out too. Can you imagine playing games with one of these? Wow!

I think the last time I was this excited about a product was when I heard that a cellular phone was available that had NO buttons and you touched the screen to interact with it. Seriously, this product is going to change our World - if it only gets a fair chance this time!

Yeah I agree. I think its only a matter of time before some other company releases a product. I think they should release something early this year, and then carry on development and release the version 2 down the line. I kind of get the feeling they having scope creep. THey could get into the mindset of never releasing because they keep coming up with better ideas.

That would be terrible. Unfortunately, what you're saying happens quite often. Look at the Gran Turismo series of games. The creator dreamt up this huge and amazing game with GT5 - came late to the party - and in the meantime some other developer blew away the market with Forza 3. I honestly don't think the GT series can ever recover from that. They're dead in the water. And it's all because the creator dragged his feet to get to the market.

As for the O.Rift, we've only seen the thing in youtube videos and heard about games being "ready for it". So where the heck is the product?

Like you said, with scope creep on an epic scale (due to perfectionism or new ideas the whole time) we could end up with a product that never comes to fruition. What then happens is the market loses interest, and the next time something like this comes along, people simply go "meh, whatever".

My one hope is that John Carmack joined the company recently. So hopefully he's there to get the thing off the ground and onto shelves, instead of just coining the $$$ in consultation fees.
