PC market faces worst sales decline in history

In other, unrelated news: NVIDIA has just announced the new "must have" GPU which will be nearly mandatory to play upcoming titles. It doesn't do a lot more than current GPU offerings, but it does support a tiny increment in DirectX which will never be utilized and costs an affordable R20,000. NVIDIA expects sales to be "positive" during the product's 3 month lifespan.

This is actually good news....
Shows more and more people are smart enough to build PCs instead of buying :p

In some more other news: Large corporates have reported this year that they are not making enough money, and are crying like babies because they're not getting what they deserve. More reports to follow.

Dem ipads are eating pc sales the only reason to own a pc is for gaming and that is a tiny market.

Doesn't help that gaming PC's are home built to suit the gamer so those stats aren't even here. I wouldn't say that it's a tiny market though.

It couldn't be that PC's have not exactly progressed much in the last couple of years - negating the need for people to buy new PC's...

Well that, or the fact that when a new component comes out it's nothing strange when it costs twice the price of a next-gen console.

I can think of plenty of components less than R7k. If you think most components are more than that then you are living under rock.

Does this also not mean that we may be getting to a point where the life span of a computer is increasing?
Something you bought a year ago is still a decent machine these days...

Yes I agree Ike_009 You can get alot for R7k, just don't buy such a expensive case, I think the drop in pc gaming is due to piracy.
That makes the devolopers think twice before making a pc version. Luckily steam and Origin helps a bit.
