Windows 9 to be unveiled in April: report

A new OS every two years? Isn't this become a bit excessive? I'd much prefer OS cycles to last around 3 or 4 years.

Then again, there's very little need to always have the latest OS nowadays.

So much this! Instead of a 2 year rollout of OS's why not bolster existing versions with updates/fixes to iron out any bugs and efficiency problems? Don't see the logic in this.

I'm still rolling with Win7. If they're going to persist with these type of release time-frames, I'll upgrade once Win10 comes around. Or maybe SteamOS is the defacto gaming OS by then.

Didn't they recently release windows 8.1? :wtf:

This is starting to turn out like ubuntu... new version every year, two revision per year!

I'll be rolling win7 until they stop supporting it :D

It is getting a bit excessive... But if they do what they did with windows 8 and sell it for like a hundred bucks at launch i really dont mind... I was really happy with the app driven windows 8, and felt it was a great fresh change to windows...

I hope it is better than Windows 8.x as I have not worked with such a terribly OS like that, ever! *flamesuit on*

This will be interesting to see.

Windows 9 better be real mind blowing. If it can combine the traditional way of using windows together with their new way of using Windows, im in. Hahaha...I would love the Windows Aero in Windows 9 :D

Will Window 9 will have DirectX 11.3/12? Sadly most dev's haven't even started to scratch the surface of 11 yet

hope they release it bug free. nope won't happen. i don't see point of renaming windows when 8.1 can be fixed. they really trying hard to do the one good, one bad, one good, one bad sickel.

Well i'm still on Win 7 ult and i love that os I've thought of going 8.1 only for BF4 because i've been told it runs way better on 8.1 than win 7.

and in 8.1 there is an option for something close to a start bar and yes 8.1 was only recently released don't know why they pushing out OS's so quickly most people haven't even gotten used to 8.1 yet

Some businesses are only flowing over to 8.1 now, by the time their transitions is done then win 9 hits and they have to start from scratch and that's only more headaches for us in the IT department

"i have no start bar on my computer" "where is this, where is that" " my computer looks funny i don't know where anything is anymore"

i can see myself already getting some chill pill prescription

maybe this will be like how win XP was upgraded to 7. XP most people skipped vista then rolled over to win 7. Now win7 roll over to win 9 ? have not even wanted to upgrade yet ><

So, a new Windows version is being announced by a blogger with no real ties to Microsoft? Also, they are in the middle of a major leadership change, so I highly doubt whether or not "Windows 9" will be announced this year at all. Maybe the runours are of another Win 8 update...either which way, something about this story smells very fishy and I am sceptical to believe this in any way...
