EA lied (obviously). SimCity getting offline mode and modding

I'm playing Anno 2070 to get my city building fix. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

I know it's not quite the same thing but whatever. :D

OT - I just got Anno 2070 and it looks like it could fill the void.

There - you're better for knowing that :p

I wanted to grab this so badly during the sale but kept being told it suck and I should rather get the 1404/1701 (dates could be entirely wrong) versions since they played a lot better. It looks like such a kewl game, wish there was a demo I could try for an hour or two.

I didn't like it. There was too much fetch this thing and take it there. Rinse and repeat.

I hate a fetch quest more than a escort mission... How does this get implicated into a game of this nature? Sorry, never played a Anno before and the series is very intriguing.

You have ships that you can control directly that can pick up cargo.

Is this your first Anno game, if not would you place it above another - I need my fix for this genre :(

Yeah, it's the first one I've played, I like the futuristic setting. It's also the newest one, so I don't see much reason to go back to the others.

Still not getting it. The online aspect was the least of my worries. The small cities is shit. Maybe they will release a non-HD pack and we can have bigger cities!

They don't seem that small. Don't the DLC City packs add to the allowed sizes and the neighborhood tiles allow for more expansive cities just managed individually?

I preferred the smaller tiles and managing shared power/employment/trash management across neighboring cities in SimCity 4 - is this method not available in the new SimCity?

No, they really are that small. You're done building your city before you've even properly started. Someone said SimCity tiles are about as big as the Medium tile in SimCity 4, but I really doubt that. It feels more like Small tiles.

The small tile size in the new game was, imo, the feature that hamstrung the entire game. I could still live with always online and the bad agent system (barely), but the tile sizes was the twig that broke the camel's back.

Exactly how I felt, felt like a step back. It is after all called sim city, not town. And considering our cities around the world are only getting bigger it doesn't make sense to make the scale of the game smaller. By all means have a small option.

That was EA's plan from the start, they will allow you to build in an area 20m by 20m wide and a max hight of 10m so that you need to buy their Sky Scraper DLC to make your building more than 3 stories high, and then city block 1 DLC to increase your map size to the size of a single city block -- Sneaky Little Hobbitses

its forced onto one now. each city needs to specialize in one or 2 things.

Of course they lied just like Microsoft is lying with the power of the clouds bs.

Have you even seen a thunder storm?!?
