Official Battlefield 4 Thread

I just got the game today. any tips for new players? recommended servers?

I'd recommend sticking to 32 player servers for now. 62man servers get crazy as it's grenades, vehicles and snipers EVERYWHERE.

-edit-

Here's some beginner's tips for you as well.

-pressing F2 in a vehicle lets you switch to the second seat. This ranges from F1 (driver/gunner) all the way to F5
-when playing assault, you don't need to look at your teammate to revive them
-laser sights are visible through smoke
-when in the RHIB, pressing F5 puts on the jetski for quick getaways
-to pick up a soldier's kit, hold E when looking at his weapon (this is useful to revive teammates if they are playing assault and you aren't)
-you cannot load ammo into guns you pick up on maps (.50 cal sniper etc)
-use 'Q' to spot enemies
-'Q' is also used to request ammo, health, orders etc
-when playing as a squad leader, hold 'Q' to give orders to your squadmates as well as request items from the commander
-enemies can be spotted through smoke grenades
-you can hold 'E' and run towards a vehicle to enter instead of spamming 'E'
-C4, SLAMS, and Claymores can be detonated by shooting them
-pilots can be shot out of all air vehicles
-at full health, tanks need 3 C4 charges to be destroyed
-you can counter a knife kill by pressing 'F'
-knife kills cannot be countered from the side or back

To Add to @DuckKnuckle's post.

  • Press "v" to zero sniper rifle scopes (set the scope distance to counter bullet-drop)
  • Spot all the time.
  • Play Rush at first. It has a clear objective and more easily promotes team work.
  • Use destruction. If they're camping up a building, drop it on them.
  • Be a team player. Drop meds and ammo, when playing Assault and Support, repair vehicles as an engineer.
  • Balance your squad. Don't be a sniper among 4 other snipers. If you notice many assault players go support or engineer.
  • Double Team Tanks. Taking on a vehicle solo is maddness, always make sure you've got other engineers backing you up unless you deploy mines.
  • Spot everything.
  • try to never solo a vehicle, a decent gunner is a good assist, even a crappy one is better than none.
  • Get the feel of the maps and select you loadout accordingly. No point in ranging it out in Locker and running around CQB on Silk.
  • Spot even if there is nothing there!
  • Assault is the core class, build them well and you'll prosper!
  • Don't die, ever. You staying alive is more important than getting a camper tags.
  • If a teamy is going to die because you want to take a enemies tags, rather shoot that enemy, please.
  • Spot all the things!
  • Have fun, it is a game after all :D

I'm suddenly experiencing some weird lag or frame drops, not certain. Anybody else feel this jittery behaviour?
