Terms of the deal were not officially disclosed, but TechCrunch, which first reported on the rumours of the acquisition, said that the deal is worth between $5- and $10-million, with AOL taking a 12% stake in Radionomy.
They were happy to can Winamp, but AOL still wants a financial stake in it? :wtf:
Radionomy will also give Winamp listeners access to its networks of online radio stations.
AOL still exists??Haven't heard about them in a loooong time..
They're not just gonna give away their IP for free, even if they dont want to support it anymore.Yeah wow... talk about scumbags
NOOO!!!!!
I wanted Winamp version 5.666 for EVER!!!!!
I tend to agree. The past couple of years I've actually just used WMP instead, meanwhile I was a huge winamp fan and user.I actually think it needs a decent overhaul. Looked the same for the last decade.

I don't know what you're talking about, I still use the classic skin. "whistling:
Winamp has been one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" type of software. It's been a stable, working platform for years and years, with a big following. That said, I do feel that if they are bringing Winamp back, a redesign will be required. They can keep the engine so-to-speak, but there's nothing wrong in making it more modern with more features and what-nots

It feels so archaic though... with aesthetics from a bygone era.. :/
