Entry: Spec Ops the line.

The more i played it and the closer to the end of the game the little load screen snippets got funnier.

"do you feel like a hero yet" & "You are still a good person" every time i saw that i thought, "Jip its a true USA story, go in to rescue a couple of people en up blasting everyone to smithereens and perhaps scoring some oil in the process."
The theme of 'Team America' played in my head as well when i played the mission where you bomb the one camp with white phosphorous.

As i entered this new and unfinished world skeptical and weary of what it had in store for me, i felt comforted by the long grass numerous tree's and fleeting wildlife. The sun was shining, the grass moving in the wind...and that's when i saw him and the rock in his hands.

Pigl3t killed you with a rock.

As i entered this familiar world knowing there where dangers around, immediately sought shelter. With my new bow in hand and arrows in my quiver i started my hunt. One night cycle survived, food in the belly and a roaring furnace smelting my ore and stone. I go out into the fields to harvest more materials to expand my dwelling. I hear gun shots, i hear screaming on my speakers from the in game sound, then i see him Monsuer Hood, he tells me to get down on my knees. Hands me food and runs on his way.

You where killed by a wolf (NPC_RandomSpawn)

As i entered my home world, i arose from my sleeping bag that offered comfort of an easy access home. I gathered what materials i had and created my first 9mm Pistol and made 5 bullets. I was on a revenge mission, to find those that had grieved me, to kill them, to loot them and finally to scorn them. I set out mind, body and weapon ready. I entered the clearing in search of my nemeses, look around and see no one, i hear a plane A DROP A DROP is echoed through the valley. We all make chase after the golden cargo of goodies. On arrival i hear more gun shots. More screaming, i take aim BANG one down
..i take aim BANG i miss
..i feel a tear to my right side i am bleeding, bandage up
..i take aim BANG i hit my mark
..i sprint for the cargo, loot whats inside and equip my new shotgun and reload
I head for the mountains in fear of being pursued by my victims. I find a high cliff face and announce my plunder to my fellow survivors on TS. I head back to camp and insert my findings into our storage boxes.

I head out again into this strange and sporadic world wondering what lies ahead of me and what loot i can plunder.

Ubermoo killed you with a M4 (Headshot)

A mercy kill, followed by a misunderstanding, leads to a haunting.

The mercy kill: It had to be done. What other option was there to help a friend who was begged to be killed? Turns out, an axe was not the best option to execute someone. Four of us gather around poor dingle, who was desyncing, as he said his last words. I proceed forward, heaving my axe and bringing it down as hard as my mouse button allowed. Blood spurts all over the place, but he was still alive... and screaming! I swing my four more times in quick succession, hoping to end it. His frustrated-agonizing screams filled the TS channel. More axe and more blood followed. Couldn't take much more, one of the team member shoots dingle in the face.
It finally ended.

The misunderstanding: As we gather round to say parting words to dingle's body, a stranger appears. Awkward glances all round. The silence was broken when we jokingly said, "we were performing a ritual". Apparently that was not the best time to joke. The stranger puts up his fists, yelling "I'll take you on, man to man. In a fist fight". Not knowing which key to press, we all took out our weapons instead of our fists. I assume his internet connectivity died as he charges us, because I have never seem anyone leave the server so fast.
That was the last time we ever saw that stranger.

The haunting: not far from our horrific execution, we found a town ripe for looting. We split up into two teams, clearing out houses on opposite sides of the road. We were careful and prepared. As I step through the door of a house, I fell unconscious. No sign of a zombie or gunshot. Suddenly another team mate falls unconscious. Again, no zombie nor gunshot was heard. To our amazement, we were not injured in any way... Needless to say, we high-tailed out of there like sonic on rails. Some speculates that the ghost of dingle was haunting us, maybe even karma.
But to date, no one really know happened in that town.

This is a game based on a mod for Garry's Mod (excuse the pun), in which the reality of choice in video games was revealed. This was none. But this has changed with the release of the full, remastered game, which has over 10 different ways to complete a story and hours of endless narrations. The game is narrated in a very humorous style which will allow you, and friends, to enjoy the game. Game play is smooth and runs fluidly from one scene to the next, as if the whole thing was just rigged to which decisions you would make 0.o but to see the true splendor of the game just glance at this quote, which has been prominent since the gmod version was out, many years ago.

"Stanley came to a set of doors. He decided to go through the left one." - Can you resist the temptations or will you be a rebel and go right?

Will you spend your whole life trying to finish these achievements?
*THEY ARE REAL AND YOU CAN DO ALL BUT THE LAST ONE*

Entry: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I realize that it's old and has a sequel which has received more critical acclaim than the aforementioned title; however, I only recently purchased a Ps3. In my naivety I thought it a wise thing to do during Matric finals, but I digress. It was one of the first console games I played, having dreamed of playing the series since reading about it in a magazine at the age of twelve I had naturally set the bar fairly high for myself six years later and boy did it deliver. The game is best described as an exhilarating and impetuous experience with players being thrown from one magnificent set piece to the next. The visuals are marvelous, the characters charismatic and the game play is legendary. I have a hard time deciding whether the cut-scenes or the game play is more enjoyable which is an incredible testament to the thorough attention to detail by the developer in my opinion. Although the metaphor is stale at this point in describing the Uncharted series, this game truly is a cinematic blockbuster and is, as such, well worth playing again if you aren't playing catch-up like myself, or picking up if you have a PlayStation 3 lying around and have not yet experienced this masterpiece.

I think they're (iGame team) are looking for undiscovered gems they can find and download on steam.. Your entry is basically moot. But better luck next time.. :-)
That, and they do not conform to social convention :D

We do not mind, it can be any game you are currently playing that has taken over your life or causing insomnia.

And no, we do not conform to social convention.

I guess mine might be cliched, but I suppose that, in light of this competition, it doesn't matter.

I played World of Warcraft for 5 years. 3 of those built up to what is far and away still my best gaming experience of my life: raiding in a hardcore progression guild. We were only narrowly off the pace of the best guilds in the world, and the end-game of WoW has always been mind-numbingly complex, engrossing, and enough to keep me enthralled for longer than any other game. The only thing that comes close is the Elder Scrolls series, and only if you add II, IV, and V together.

Once we downed the Lich King 25 man HC just before the nerfs to the encounter started appearing, it was like I was on top of the world. We were a great guild, talking on a first-name basis, and I have never again felt like such a well-oiled cog in a perfect machine, where everyone performed their role perfectly. We were some of the best.

Alas, when a new expansion rolled around, fatigue had set in. We had downed the Lich King early, and the filler wasn't enough to keep us enthralled any longer. Naxxramas, Ulduar, Icecrown Citadel: they'd all grown stale for us. People stopped signing up for raids, and the guild started to die.

A splinter group of us started to PVP quite seriously, using select trinkets and weapons from our heroic PvE gear to gain an advantage in the arena. Our anticipation for Cataclysm was palpable, and looked forward to attacking the next tier of raiding.

For some reason, that never happened.

The guild imploded. The guild leaders, a Paladin and Priest couple, left the server. One of our officers tried to salvage things, but it was never the same. In the end, I stopped playing WoW.

Then, not too long ago, my partner bought us both gamecards.

I quickly levelled a new character to 15, and sent a message to our gaming Whatsapp group, joking about my epic level 15 pajamas (my character looked terrible). Somehow, this preposterous undead priest, clad in purple and green cloth, got everyone excited about this enormous, mysterious world of Azeroth. 3 of my friends immediately picked up the game. Later, more followed suit.

Suddenly, we had enough friends playing to form a guild. We're preparing to do some transmog runs, and depending on Warlords of Draenor's release date, will hopefully soon recruit for raiding progress.

WoW is amazing, in that it's engrossing enough to keep me entertained (GW2 and SWTOR were boring after a month), while not feeling like work. There is a lot to do, but it isn't a grind to me. It's all fun and relevant to the game world. As a result, I have barely bought any games since I picked this up again.

People often decry the monthly fee, but honestly, it's worth every penny. The updates and maintenance are peerless, and this is all the game you'l need for a long time. I would play a lot more when I was a student, so my job is preventing those all-nighters (I fondly remember doing the same dungeon all night to get a pair of epic swords for my Death Knight, just because they looked cool), but it's still all the game I'll need for the rest of 2014.

World of Warcraft isn't just another MMO, it's truly special.

Entry: Metro 2033

Time to put on my gas mask, I only have one filter left and *checks stop watch* 3 minutes to run all the way to the other building and get back inside the metro. Easy enough. Around the corner there are about 4 monsters, I can attempt to sneak past them and risk running out of air, or I can Rambo through them and risk being eaten alive. Problem is I only have 12 bullets.

OK let's sneak. 1 Minute left. Breathing becomes heavy and vision through the gas mask becomes blurry. My palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, there's vomit on my sweater already, mom's spaghetti! Wait, that's something else. Easy...easy, just one more stretch...SHIT! I've been spotted! Four monster storm at me at full pace while I attempt to shoot and kill them!

It is the year 2033. The world was destroyed in a devastating nuclear attack and the only survivors are the ones in the metro.
You play as Artyom, a 19 year old Russian dude that tries to help his home station. I recommend playing it on Ranger Mode Hardoce. It truly makes the game more realistic and enhances the atmoshpere! You have to scavange for gas mask and bullets, monsters kill you almost instantly and then there's Nazi's. Yes Nazis. Choose you targets carefully, because you might run out of ammo. The stealth system really works and you can probably sneak past everything if you are good.

Entry: Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD

The original Pixeljunk Monsters on PlayStation 3 sucked my then-fiancé and I into its strange, cutesy, surprisingly hardcore tower defense world of walking giant mountains, just-fast-enough-to-be scary spiders, legions of imps, terrifyingly quick bats and flying bees (oh God the bees). We spent many long nights while house-sitting a friend's house playing through the campaign, attempting to get the rainbow on each stage (IE perfect completion with no monsters getting through). It truly was a game that you describe in your original brief for this competition: we played until, bleary-eyed and shocked, we realised that the sun was starting to rise.

The recent port/ultimate edition of Pixeljunk Monsters (Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD) for PlayStation Vita, threatens to suck me back into the world of the dancing Tikiman. I've already spent a few evenings dancing by my towers willing the upgrade bar to move faster, in the hope of getting enough damage to finish off the boss before it kills the cute creatures I am supposed to be protecting.

The port offers just enough changes to the original to keep returning Monster veterans like myself interested, as there are subtle changes that most people will miss. For the nostalgia, and the fact that it is a great game that I am happy to play again, Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate HD is my game of the moment.

Entry: Hearthstone

Come around and sit by the fire, these are the soothing words enticing you in as you load up the game, the adrenaline quickens as you look around the the pub for challenges with the fire by the hearth warms the feet and soul, its a battle of strategic might and a dash of luck as you manage and pick your 30 cards every choice bringing doubt and worry about your skill as your about to enter the arena with your hard fought gold earned on the battle fields of warcraft. Your opponent taunts you as you begin, you counter it with an insult as the match begins. This is hearthstone!

Battlefield 4

As I ride in the buggy towards our target objective on the passenger side, 1 guy driving and 1 manning the 50 cal, we see a tank appear from around the building. We hear ‘oh sh*t over the voice comms as our driver wildly swerves to avoid the swinging barrel of the tank. We take a detour around the building coming up behind the tank(Some unlucky Russian fly's right over our windscreen as we drive right through him, roadkill :)), whilst I am wondering how we could possibly take on a tank with a buggy, he wildly speeds up driving straight towards the tank. The tank has realised we are on his six, and before I could realise what the plan was, both occupants abandoned the buggy while I’m still inside…and the buggy burst into a massive explosion taking out the tank, and me…I’m sure everyone’s first experience with c4 ramming makes them laugh at their screen out loud.

Feeling more knowledgeable about the sneaky tactics that seem to be the order of the day, I set out , this time to guard a point as an engineer against an incoming tank, once again. I decide the rooftops is as safe a place as any to hide from a tank while wearing it down with anti tank missiles. I’m pretty impressed with my progress as he is 1 Anti tank missile away from being destroyed while having wasted about 7 shells, mostly hitting the building and not touching me at all, silly tank. What comes next is the final shell that collapses the building, and falling through crumbling concrete to my hysterical death. I once again laugh at my screen, this time experiencing another way to die through destructible buildings.

Deciding that I have had enough of tanks and jumping into a helicopter, I man the mingun as the pilot takes off,(I tried to fly a helicopter yesterday and flew into the building, angry messages on the chat channel flowed from dead passengers, still need much more practice) we fly off into the rice paddy fields, shooting at random Asians on the ground(I was on the American team today), I imagine a retro 70’s rock tune in the background, reminiscent of apocalypse now and other Vietnam movies. The pilot evens out the chopper on an objective for us to get a good shooting position and to earn points on the objective takeover, only for the helicopter to spin wildly out of control. The pilot is dead, and we die in a flaming ball of fire. Snipers are a bitch.

Entering the battlefield, this time more cautious of my surroundings, the electrical plant at the dam needs reinforcement’s, the sirens are wailing. I see people dashing away while I’m running towards the objective, laughing and calling them cowards, I proceed to show them how to defend an objective. I hear a loud crashing and the screen stuttering, something huge is going on and I’m worried now. As I turn around I see the very dam wall crumbling away and water rushing through. Debris and rocks going in every direction, A huge boulder comes crashing straight through the electrical pylons and flattens me along with a few other troops. Screams of laughter over the chat channel by those killed by levolution.

This was a month ago, I am now quite astute in killing people indirectly or unconventionally and it always brings a smile to my face :)

I have managed to rack up 300 hours on this bloody game. The amount of times i had to push enter (restart). let me explain. you complete the first lap with 30.055 seconds. Great. You are 0.010 away from the guy in front of you... Now when you take the first corner.. you gained 0.01....(enter) 0.015 (enter) -0.001 (yay next corner) 0.1 (###k, enter). and so on and so on until you come first on the track. usually you tack the world records but that doesnt matter... coming first on that day does.

Tomb Raider:A Survivor is born

To start off,I am a huge Lara Croft fan,as from my childhood days when she first appeared in 1996.
What pulled me to this character was the fact that she was a strong independent, courageous and gutsy girl/woman who wasn't afraid of danger. She was an explorer..an attractive one at that and intelligent,oh and the British accent was a plus.
She was the first and only female gaming character that stood out from all the rest.

When the release of Tomb Raider a survivor is born was released in 2013,I ran out to get my copy.
The game is a reboot or prequel to Lara's life as an adventurer and survivor,as she is alot younger in this game.

Lara has just graduated from University and on her first adventurer, traveling on an enormous shipping vessel looking for a lost island, accompanied by an eccentric adventure journalist,an aspiring film maker(female friend from university) and the ships crew.

As you are sailing across the open seas,a sudden storm breaks out and the ship is split in two,as the crew try to flee for their lives,Lara falls from the ship and manages to wash up on the shore. She sees other survivors and makes her way towards them...but they suddenly disappear and Lara is grabbed by an unseen figure and tied up upside down in a dark damp cave.

This is where her survival starts, and the game-play begins, you(Lara) have to free yourself from your bondage's,when doing so a nail pierces right through you flesh,on your side, making it difficult to move/walk.As you make your way through the desolate cave you find a torch to guide you through. One thing that I like about the game is the ability of Lara to use INSTINCT mode, whereby points of interest are highlighted.

The graphics, scenery, sound and music of the game are so gripping, you will literally sit at the edge of your seat as you guide Lara to escape from the island and find her companions.....but you and your friends are not the only ones on that island and who cannot escape from it,not because there are no ships to leave on,but due to a supernatural force that DOES NOT want anyone to leave.

The game is filled with constant action and suspense as you make your way through the island and discover bit by bit why and what is keeping everyone there and driving them to insanity.

As you continue to play you will pick up some really cool hand crafted/moded weapons to assist in your survival on the island, shotgut, bow and arrow, pistol, pickaxe and more.
The island brings out the adventurer and survivor in Lara,as she gains weapon skills and combat techniques.
In all Lara is still a young girl, scared, freighted and somewhat alone as she has to fight her way through all the dangers on the island.

In the DLC you can raid hidden tombs and find treasures.
Although the original Tomb Raider was known for it's puzzles, the 2013 game did not have that many puzzles in it,which was surprising, but I didn't even notice it as the game was just so good.

It is as all the other Tomb Raider games are...emotional. You feel Lara's sadness and pain as each turn there is danger.
When playing the game, one actually asks oneself, how can one person go through all that...alone.Lara's will, trust and faith is tested as she slowly develops into the Lara we all know and love.

I've played it on PC with all DLC and on Xbox, cause it is THAT amazing.

If I manage to get a PS4,I will most certainly get it for that console.

A must play for any gamer, even if you have not played an Tomb Raider title before, this is a reboot,so previous experience not required:D:)

Why are you still here reading,go play the game,Lara is waiting.....You should never let a beautiful woman wait.SHOO GO!!!!

Entry: Star Wars Tiny Death Star (Iphone/Android)

I just browsed the app store and just saw the first 2 words "star wars" and instantly started downloading the game without knowing the mechanics of it (HUUUUUUUUGGGGEEE Star Wars Fan ) While downloading I read that its some tower game and I was like bleh...
The first time I opened it was the longest time I've had a game open in one go... guess... 3hrs? 4hrs? Nope, a whopping 13 hrs!!!
I instantly got sucked into the role of manager, helping darth vader build his so called "death star" with a twist of generating insane amounts of cash buying, reselling and growing my tower to over 20 floors currently... and growing I got glued to the pixelated graphics, memorable star wars tunes and the great variety of species that visited my tower. After no time I was taking visitors to various floors through the elevator, then quickly ordering new stock, managing my workers then jumping to catching some rebel spy trying to infiltrate my masterpiece of a tower while expansions were currently underway in the background. In the end I never imagined myself playing such type of a game on my phone let alone my pc. Its endless hours of FUN thats non stop always throwing new curveballs at you (a pun, lol) and managing your resources (think Pirelli's useless F1 tyres) which runs about pretty quick when your a noob at the game (thankfully Im not one anymore). Sorry got to go, need to expand my 21st story and fire that God Damn slow martian worker, so I can fire him) BWAHAHAHAAAHHHHHAAA!!!

Entry: Papers, Please

The 80s. Madonna still claimed to be a virgin, the President of the United States was an actor and the cold war was reaching boiling point. It was a time of communists vs capitalists and when everybody knew what to do in the case of a nuclear attack. You don't need to remember the 80s to enjoy "Papers, Please", but if you do it will give you some much needed perspective on the mindset of the time.
The game itself is not a victory in photo-realistic graphics, it doesn't boast a soundtrack recorded by Rihanna and the gameplay features you doing paperwork in an office at a border post.

papers_please_3.jpg
It sounds exactly like this as well.

Bad graphics, tinny sound, repetitive gameplay... So what is the attraction?
It's because everything fits perfectly within the 80s communist setting. When you first hear the intro music, it instills images of parades of weapons moving past the Kremlin in a somber show of power. And a small amount of that power is entrusted to you because the final decision of who is granted entry to the country and who is denied is your choice.
The way in which the paperwork increases, how you manage your daily wages (are you going to buy food or medicine for a sick family member) and the moral choices you face builds gradually to the climax of the game, one of its many endings. Do you want to escape the country? Do you want to be a model citizen? And how do you handle it when the widow that only wants to visit her son one final time without a valid visa turns out to be a suicide bomber?

Glory to Arstotzka!
