Gamer Confessions..

I've not played any of the Crysis games except #1 and then i only started the 1st mission, died a few times and the quit the game.

I've never played that either.
I haven't played a Call of Duty game since I finished the SP campaign of 4 (which was the only aspect of the game that I played).

The last CoD game that i enjoyed was CoD:World at War.
I've been playing it on Ps3 for a few years now, also enjoy it's MP lots

That's another confession that I have to make: I don't enjoy online multiplayer. Especially randoms. I can handle people that I know in small doses, though. I am much more suited to single player campaigns and I don't easily share my screen real-estate.

Is there no funny story that links all of these together that you need to understand?

There is - but it's so convoluted that it really doesn't matter whether or not you played them all. There is enough information presented in all the games to help you catch up

Oh cool. What else can I use as an excuse not to play these games that you guys can quickly debunk for me? :p

You looking at AC? I played more or less every second one, and the overall story is super convoluted, but each game plays well enough by itself as well. I missed AC2, but I did play AC: Brotherhood (kind of AC2.5 really), and it was way better than the first game. I missed Revelations, but I did play AC3, I have now also picked up AC4, which I will play after The Last of Us.

Each game builds on the previous one and adds some new aspects to the game, so it's been getting more and more interesting. In AC3, they introduced the naval missions (testing the water for the sailing stuff - har har), and new since AC:BH was a whole economy with crafting and trading goods, and building up a community of people to craft said goods. In BH, they introduced extra assassin recruits that you can call to help you in a fight and also to send on their own missions to make money and improve their stats, and they were still there in AC3.

The main problem with AC1 was that missions, especially the side missions, were really repetitive and boring, and they fixed that I think with AC2.

Jeez that's a pretty good summary of the series. BH actually sounds pretty awesome, with the crafting thing. Checking a trailer now. Why are you so handy, dude? Are you a wizard?

AC Rule of Thumb:
Templar: Bad
Assassin: Good

Remember that and you'll be fine :P

Hehe yeah, Matt just put some more detail.

Its dangerous to go alone, take this +1.

(I have to rep more people before you can actually get a +1 from me).

LOL, glad to be helpful. The crafting thing was only in AC3 though, BH had the recruits. If you do end up playing AC3, I must warn you that the first part of the game is a little off-putting, it's kind of a long intro to the main game, and you don't play the bulk of the game as the annoying British guy, and then there's another bit of a tutorial section where you learn to hunt, and climb and free-run through trees (other new aspects to the series).

Basically the first 5 hours of AC3 is a tutorial.

That 1st part was a shocker. I did not see it coming.

Crazy plot twist is crazy!

EDIT: Oh ya, remembered another difference between BH and AC3. In BH, the recruits are kind of generic, so you call them and they appear and kill someone and fight with you. In AC3, they are specific people, each with their own special abilities, so you can call them to fight like in BH, but you can also use their abilities, eg, one guy can start riots, another guy can bring you bodyguards, another guy is a sniper, etc.

But getting back to AC1, i'm glad i played it before i touched any of the other ones because i don't think i would have been able to finish the game if i did.

The only reason I hated AC1 is I lost my save after only needing 17 Jerusalem flags and 1 Templar. I cried myself to sleep for weeks...

Concerning Crysis 1, EVERYONE must play that game at least once! MUST!
